What Is God's Plan For Healthy Living?

I'm gearing up for a big 2024! I have some personal goals I always set for myself, and in 2024 the goal that is on the top of my priority list is....Growing my faith!

In 2023, I made the commitment to read through the bible...From Genesis to Revelation! And I'm about a week away from making that a reality :)

And as 2024 is right around the corner, I'm looking at some more ways to continue my walk with Christ. And I came across something pretty cool today while watching a sermon that I wanted to highlight for people...

I'm a 40-something year old man that is really trying to work on my health. I have three sons that need their father and I'm no good to them being 6 feet under the ground. So taking care of my health is a big priority for me.

And what better way than to see what the Lord says about health and how to take care of our bodies for His glory?

This is the GODSPLAN acronym that I discovered tonight and I was going to highlight each 'letter' and it's corresponding scripture to see how our Creator designed us to live as healthy as possible.

Godly Trust from Genesis 2:17 - This is clear that Adam and Eve didn't fully trust God. He explicitly said, don't eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Trust is a must for people of faith, and just maybe the designer of the human body MIGHT know what's best for us?

Open Air from Genesis 1:6,7 - Fresh air does wonders for us, I mean it's something even my own mother has been telling me for my entire life...Get fresh air lol

Daily Exercise from Genesis 2:15 - We are designed to be active! From the garden of Eden it was clear, God wanted us to be outside and active. I will commit myself to being active a lot more in 2024. This will do wonders for me personally!

Sunlight from Genesis 1:16 - We are so quick to go buy Vitamin D pills because so many of us don't get enough sunshine. Hmmm, interesting that the Lord created the ultimate source of vitamin D....Just gotta make sure we wear proper sunscreen too LOL

Proper Rest from Genesis 2:3- I'm an Adventist, so rest is built into my weekly schedule...Oh look at that, God created a day for rest...Isn't that something ;)

Lots of Water from Genesis 2:10 - The garden of Eden had flowing rivers of fresh water throughout it. We're made up of like 90% water. Less soda pop, and more water should be on everyone's menu!

Always Temperate from Genesis 2:16:17 - We had access to everything in paradise, and we wanted the one thing God said not to have. Greed kills. I know personally I don't need the whole pizza, I just need a slice or two. You should have seen my diet a few years ago....Temperate wasn't in my vocabulary.

Nutrition from Genesis 1:29 - Interesting to see what was God's original diet for us in the garden of Eden. In 2024, I'm going to make an effort to eat a much more vegetarian diet. But alas, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak lol Pray for me :)

What is so interesting to me when going through all of these scriptures, is that these are from creation. This planet. nature, water, plants...Where designed to maximize our health to be stewards of the world.

If our bodies are the temple of the Lord, I think I'll be doing a much better job in 2024 of honoring it. My faith says, God knows what is best :)

Amen. That's a great insight from the Bible. I'm going to go through each scripture to deepen my own conviction about health living. Thank you for sharing 🙏

Thanks very much for the comments!

Yeah there's so much I know we can learn from Scripture, healthy living isn't always at the top of the list but it's there.
