Professor Grant Horner's Bible Reading System

I'm on day number 125 of the 'Eat This Book' bible in a year reading plan. We started it on January 1st, and it's been such a blessing for my family and I. The Kingdom has quite a few participants in it, and we're always looking for more.

If you ever want to join in, please do join the group and read along with us :)

However....

There's always a but lol

I wanted more!

I'm actually doing very good at keeping my reading habits up every day, and wanted to expand into different parts of the bible. So I did a few searches online and discovered something, quite interesting!

It's called the Professor Grant Horner Bible Reading System.

Now if you are looking for anything official and from the man himself, I'm not sure there is anyone online. However there is plenty of information about how to get started. I found a YouTube video about it and it lead me to this information page, complete with detailed reading plans and printable bookmarks.

Yeah you are going to need them lol

Here's how it works....

The reading system takes you on a journey through multiple sections of the bible all at once.

You read 10 chapters a day, from the books of poetry, the Gospels, the Prophets, the Torah, the Epistles, the books of Wisdom, Proverbs, Psalms, History and Acts. Each section of the bible, one chapter from each.

And in 249 days, you will have read through the entire bible.

The idea behind this system is that you will see how Scripture ties in with itself throughout the books. And when you are done a section, you simply repeat day 1. That way you are never reading the same 10 chapters at the same time.

Mind blowing results have been documented form it as well. Plenty of people swear by this reading plan and have credited it for their love of reading the bible. This isn't a chore, instead it builds a love of diving into the Word every day.

Now 10 chapters may seem like I lot, but I'm doing about 4-6 right now on my current plan too. And it'll take me about 30-45 minutes a day to do both plans. I look at like this....That's one silly Netflix episode I can miss, and be into the Word instead. Time management is a beautiful thing!

So I'm diving in....

What's really cool is while there is no official site for the reading plan, there is a plan right in the Bible app that I'm currently using for Eat This Book!

If you are interested in following along and diving into this reading plan, here is the link from the Bible App!

And before we get out of here.....

My friend Rob from @robsjourney has started a really cool little project on Hive. The goal, get closer to God every day of course but it's his 3 steps system where we:

  1. Pray
  2. Read
  3. Share

I think it's fantastic and a great way to talk about the Lord on the blockchain. So I'll be including the tag #forthelord and all my content going forward.

Hope you join in and help spread the good Word!
