You Can't Lose At Marketing When You Do This...

Let's talk about marketing strategies...

We see a lot of them, especially here on chain. We're always trying to figure out a way to attract new people to Hive and here on LEO. Yet no matter what we seem to do, growth on chain seems to be flat.

We don't grow. We don't diminish. We are just flat....

Now I'm going to say it very loud that I appreciate every single initiative that has been tried here. That's what makes this place so unique. Everyone is trying! And everyone has a vested interest in seeing this place explode with new users.

However let's take a trip into the 'regular world' and see if there is something we can learn about how to market the blockchain that might bring big value to the chain.

I use Starlink for my internet service provider. It's more of a necessity because in the middle of Nowhere, Canada, so internet service is at a premium. But I paid for my satellite hardware about a year and a half ago. And I paid BIG!

Now I see ads everywhere for Starlink that tells people they can get the exact same hardware I purchased for about 30% of the cost at which I bought mine. They are attracting new customers by lowering costs. Which is about as old a trick as you will find in the marketing / advertising world.

However, what about the current customer base?

Not once have I received a thank you note, discount, special offer, anything from Starlink. And I'm not saying I expect any either but imagine....If companies spent as much effort appreciating their current customer base than they do trying to attract new ones.

Let's bring this home to the blockchain...

If we want to create the most powerful marketing team in the history of any blockchain, we do it by making people feel appreciated here!

Why?

Because when people feel appreciated, they talk about it! When people feel like their effort here is welcomed, they will scream from the mountain tops about the experience they are having.

How?

We have the power to make every single person feel like they matter here. It can be done using the following tools at our fingertips:

  • Replying to comments

  • Engaging on people's content

  • Upvotes

  • Highlighting them in pieces of content

  • Tipping through PeakD

  • Rewarding them with HSBI tokens or Tipping bot tokens

And that's just scratching the surface.

Some of these don't cost you a penny and it's just time invested in making people feel appreciated here. But the last thing we should be doing, is running folks off with downvotes, awful user experiences on front ends, and criticizing new members to the blockchain because they don't know the 'culture' yet.

Embrace the community, the community will reward us.

Again, I get it....Without new customers / members platforms die. But let's be brutally honest with ourselves....We have run off a LOT of people over the years because they didn't understand Hive out of the gate.

And this is a strategy that all of us can implement right now...

Engage more. Upvote more. Share more. Talk about what others are doing more. Support the businesses and apps more. These are things within our control and maybe...Just maybe...

Attrition won't be an issue.

We will build a community of raving fans that feel important and do everything they can to spread the word about this blockchain and it's remarkable communities.

I've been using Starlink too, for about a year now (we moved into an RV and have been traveling around the Western US).

It's really good. Pricey, but for the service we're getting, it's been great.

Where is the best place you have lived so far in the RV?

I really like Branson, Missouri (in the Ozarks) and we loved the Washington and Oregon coasts. We're planning to look for land near the Washington coast within the next year or two and start building.

Awesome. We used to go to silver dollar city near Branson Missouri.

I need to visit Oregon sometime. It’s on my list for sure.

Great points here. Community will win the day for $HIVE. I think threads is going to play an important role to bring a new audience that can feel connected quickly that would have never made it just blogging. !PIZZA

I agree. It's going to be such a win for this chain. Can't wait to see what things are like in a year from now.

Cell phone companies are the same way, it drives me crazy. Zero thought about your loyal customers who have been with you for decades.

Cable, internet and phone companies are notorious for ignoring current customer bases. But will do anything to attract new customers. It's amazing how people haven't figured it out, building loyalty is as simple as making current customers / members feel appreciated.

I think once the person stays in one place for long enough, he or she will do whatever they can to be territorial and then find faults at everything new that comes. That seems to be the case with some people and this could be one reason it could affect Hive.

Too much social and people at the top would cut the head off the person who is climbing to become them, in this case whales. So people who are joining now should stay below whales otherwise hive is harder neighbourhood to survive. Sometimes it feels like whales, top accounts are like mafias on street. You have to move past them to survive here. And I don't think this will change any time soon.

There have been some amazing whale accounts that have done so much for this chain. But at the same time, I agree...Some scare others away.

It's why I'm trying to hard to get the message across that votes matter. Upvotes, voting for witnesses etc...That's how real change happens. New members should be celebrated.

I have not used Starlink as it doesn't make sense when I live in the city. It sucks to see that they don't really value customers but I kind of expected that from Elon. He has his hands in too many jars and there are too many customers for him to care.

It's an interesting business model for sure. They have a support email, that's it. And I sent in an issue once, didn't hear back for over a month lol

Without a doubt, staying loyal to the community gives it the necessary strength to grow.

One step at a time, it's potential is there!

You are right, when things are good, people share their story and onboard people. When things look less great, they tend to fall silent. I can speak for myself when I say that while the rewards were GREAT, I shared my story of content creation a lot more and onboarded some people successfully, while when rewards are so so, this is not the case. It's harder to convince people when you're a little less excited yourself.

Personally, I do tell people about hive whenever I find a person that I see has potential to become a valued content creator.. I try to motivate them, but often they check it out and think, it's new, I don't know it so never mind I will stick to regular social, lol. You know the drill...

Oh for sure. I remember on the previous blockchain during that first hype wave...We had a lot of content creators jumping on board because they were getting 100-200 bucks a post.

And then crickets....lol

I noticed that newbies tend to leave the platform because they don’t get upvotes
I would not say they are entitled to it but at the same time, it is a way of motivating them

Yeah and that's something we can fix, while it doesn't mean we need to upvote every single person...The people that are curious and trying to learn more, should be supported.

It is true that if we first collect all the knowledge and make a good strategy and work on it, then we can reduce the loss.
