They've Moved Into The Coop!
And here they are....
The last time you may have seen our little friends, they were about a day old. Over a month later, they have been moved to their brand new home.
The barn that we've turned into the chicken coop!
A few pics to go through...
First and second pics are the side of the barn that we've covered with hay and put a wire fence to keep them on that side of the barn. Let's be honest, that doesn't always work because a few of them have already found ways to fly over it lol
Third pic is just a quick look at our garden in early June. Things are growing nicely :)
Fourth pic is the Nest cam we set up in the barn. My wife REALLY wants to keep an eye on them...I personally think this is a bit much lol
Fifth pic is the girls getting used to coming in and out of their coop. Trust me, it's not as easy as you may think to stick them back in at night...
Sixth pic is one of our Rhode Island Reds, taking the top roosting spot in the coop...For now!
And finally the seventh pic is my craftsmanship on full display. As two of the chickens seem to really enjoy the small perch I made for them.
All in all, the experience has been quite rewarding. Next step is to see in month 4, if they start laying those precious eggs!
Crossing fingers :)

Pics don't seem to display for me on ecency but raising chickens sound like a lot of work but very rewarding at the same time.
I posted it on liketu. Pretty sure they have a nice little mobile version too :)
Looks like you may give @papa-pepper a run for his money with this set up!
ha ha ha no way. he's a legend. i can barely even chop wood properly lol
That's awesome! We all know that eggs are goldmine, in this day and age!
=^..^=
For sure, they are getting way too expensive lol
They look very comfortable, they will give you good eggs.
Hope so lol We will see how it goes.
Great craftsmanship! Things are nicely shaping up for the weeks and months ahead. The garden is looking good :)
Not bad, my family is able to take care of it while I'm working. It's turned out pretty good.
ha ha ha ha that's great!
Very nice! That is great that they are making a new home. A friend of mine from high school just got some ducks and it has been fun watching them grow in her Instagram feed. I have another friend that used to raise chickens and rabbits. It's a very rewarding experience. He loved doing it, but it just got to be too much work keeping predators away from the chickens.
Yeah we're being extra careful, making sure it's secure. But where we live, the predators can be sneaky lol
I bet! You have some crazy wilderness there in Canada!

it looks great. You put a lot of effort into the design and space. Amazing... I like your craftsmanship of the perch for them. Once they start laying, that will save you some money based on how many they lay. LOL
The layout is all my wife. I can't take any credit. But the perch, that's all me LOL
How exciting! I'm glad you are enjoying your adventure of raising chickens. I hope they start laying eggs soon and that they are delicious. It's amazing what you can learn from doing something like this, and I'm sure things will only get better as you move forward with this project! Best of success!
