The Secret To Discovering Real Success

avatar

Let's do a little bit of soul searching together tonight....

When you first hear of the opportunity to earn money online, being your own boss, securing a Lambo from your crypto holdings....You get excited!

Thoughts of being financially free, being out of debt and finally being able to rage quit that dead end job you hate so much...The entrepreneurial dream I suppose.

Over my 25 years of being in business online, I've seen this 'dream' packaged every way you could imagine. From the promises of instant wealth, to the images of the mansion and yachts, it seems to all be designed to do one thing...

Separate you from your hard earned money. These snake oil salesmen are sneaky. And very good at the art of persuasion. They will pitch you the dream, and in about 30 days from now, you won't hear from them again.

And sometimes, we deserve what we get!

Huh?

Well think about it....You know that 'opportunity' you just heard about sounds way too good to be true but you tell yourself, this time it's different. This time, you will be a success!

30 days later, you give up....And the cycle repeats the next time a new flashy object appears. I called this the 'internet market vortex of doom' for years...

(I actually drew this over 10 years ago...Picasso level stuff!!!)

The way out, in my opinion, was to stick with something that had staying power. And that was the old 'kaizen' model of being better at sunset than you were at sunrise.

You see, that was what success was to me!

I have made a lot of money over those 20 plus years online. And I've lost just as much lol But the one thing that kept me going, was that i was in competition with myself. I wanted to be better tomorrow, than I was today.

If I achieved just a little bit more the next day, that was success!

You see, I can't tell you what success is. It's a personal thing. Maybe your idea of success is the mansion and the yacht. And if it is, more power to you. Everyone has dreams, goals and big visions for their life.

But to me, that's always competing with others. That's always a losing game because as much as you feel that you are at the top of that game, there's always someone hungrier than you.

So if you start competing with yourself, and trying to better each and every day....That's how you win and to me, that's how you find true success.

A bigger bank account, better relationships, higher growth...Are all by products of competing with yourself. Never comparing your success to someone else's, instead you are comparing your success and growth to what it was...On the previous day!

Be better at sunset than you were at sunrise. Every day!

Is this the path to success for everyone?

Absolutely not, everyone is different and our paths will never all be the same. But I'll tell you this much, you'll sleep easier at night. You won't be so worried about what your competition is doing because again....

The competition is you!

This is one of the best post I’ve seen in a long time. I really like to think about my first blockchain go with steem. I thought I would be rich quick. Ha.

Now I’m in hive for the long game. It will continue to have its ups and downs but if it’s still here in 10 years, I think I’ll be sitting pretty.

Do you post all the CTP updates to a different account or are those mainly in discord. I was wondering what’s cooking with ctp this week when I was looking at hive engine.

I don’t get in discord much anymore. I should though.

Thanks man, appreciate the support and kind words. Been wanting to do this post for a few weeks now, glad I got it out.

Nah we update on @ctptalk mainly. That's the account with all the big updates but right now we're in survival mode with our lead dev having to take a leave for health reasons.

Another thing is that success if we document, it changes like map changes when continent does. So what worked for you may not work for me. So success is illusive sometimes. We have to just keep throwing and see what it sticks.

That's a good point. And then you can take things from others that may work and integrate it into your own plans.

It's not but I do think that you won't succeed if you give up at the slightest setback. It takes some effort and things don't always happen the way you want. It's been tough to know when to call it quits though.

As you say, there is always someone hungrier than you. And luckier than you.

I've met people with zero drive or energy that land in positions and opportunities that I couldn't get if I wanted it. Not even if I worked on it for 10 years. I would need a time machine and change my parent's history.

But anyway. You have to take what you have been given in life and work with what you have.

I'm not into golf but "play it as it lies" seems to be a good analogy.

And yes. Measuring your success against yourself is the only way to go!

I think that's a more rewarding or fulfilling way to compete. Become better each and everyday, working towards achieving your goals and looking how much you've progressed along the way. Being a better person than the day/week/month/year before can be a good motivator to stick with it and put in the work.

That's why I try to keep myself accountable by doing the weekly posts on my goals. Only way to motivate myself is to see how i did the previous week.

Indeed! It puts things into perspective and shows us where to tweak or improve upon. I do a monthly review of my yearly goals.

Hey @jongolson - I'll have you know that right now I have a 1/104,501 chance of winning a Lambo on Freebitcoin as I have won 8 Golden Tickets on Wheel of Fortune spins so far this round...!

I really think I'm going to win this time!

BUT just in case, I'm focussing my efforts on accumulating more HIVE, HBD, INDEX, CTP, CTPSB, LEO and a few other 2nd tier tokens that look promising.

Cheers!

I have always used the word "Progress" instead of "Success" because "Success" seems to be an end of a journey from taking actions and "Progress" is the journey with no end from taking actions. Since I never want the journey to end, I have always referred to what I want as "Progress" from day to day. Take care.

Absolutely. Success is indeed personal and unique to each individual. It's what drives us to pursue our dreams, achieve our goals, and live a fulfilling life. So, whether your definition of success involves a mansion and a yacht or something completely different, embrace it wholeheartedly and keep pushing towards making your dreams a reality. You've got this!

That is the truth. People tend to get tired very quick. This happened to me when I first registered on Hive. If not, I would have had so much Hive by now. I stopped working on Hive for over a year when I began. I did not even work for a full week but I'm glad now that I'm back...
