Sad News From The CTP Community

As you guys know, I stepped away from online marketing and ownership of all the projects I spent decades on. One of the greatest aspects of running online businesses for all these years are the people you meet along the way.

I've met a ton of awesome people! Some of them, I continue to have relationships with to this day because once you 'meet' online, and share the same interests....Things just take a natural course. A year of working together with someone, turns into a decade and before you know....They become a part of your journey.

In December 2017 I joined the blockchain and got 'really' excited about. I remember going into the community chat for CTP and telling everyone...

"I found it!"

At the time, most people ignored it...But there was a guy who literally, jumped on board the exact same time I did.

That guy was @ericburgoyne

If you look at the date of joining the chain, he got his account fired up within a month or so from when I got signed up. Because back then, you were at the mercy of the glorious Steemit Inc to provide you with account keys.

Eric jumped on board and was attracted to this blockchain from day one.

He spent a bunch of time in the Sports Talk Social community, but was always active in pretty much everything we did in CTP. Recently, he had jumped into with both feet into InLeo!

Sadly, I got new this afternoon that Eric passed away last week.

I'm not sure of all the details, but I know he had been battling health issues his entire life. He was pretty much fighting his health ever since I knew him, but he never seemed to complain. He had issues, but it didn't slow him down.

On top of that, over the past few years, he was taking care of his significant other as she went through some of her own health issues too. She had trips in and out of hospital, and Eric was with her every step of the way. He put her first, even though he was dealing with his own stuff.

I'm going to miss Eric. I'm going to miss his presence here on chain and the journey we shared together on Hive.

Right now, I'm praying for Sharon, that she finds comfort in some way. It's just awful when your partner leaves this earth. If you are the praying type, if you could keep her in your prayers tonight, that would be much appreciated.

Rest well Eric, and thank you for adding so much to my journey over the years.

Ahhh man. This is very sad news.

Eric has been one of my biggest supporters since I launched SPinvest and its plethora of tokens. He always read my reports, asked good questions and left good feedback. I will miss his comments.

I remember back to the last time we were DMing on Discord last month and he was still planning out 10-15 years ahead. He never mentioned health issues but that does not surprise me, he seemed like a selfless person.

Rest In Peace big man, i'll miss you

He loved your project. Never stopped mentioning it anytime I would ask what he loved on chain.

Aww, thats amazing to hear. I knew he liked my projects, he was one of my OG's. He was not so slow for an old guy 😁 and knew a good deal.

I've been thinking him about alot since I saw this post,

Not your responsibility but I see you mentioned someone called Sharon, i pray she has access to Eric's account because he had a few tokens I would like them tokens back. The correct thing for me to do would be to cash out for Eric and pass on the USD to Sharon. I heard she is having her own health issues and is grieving but I'd like to cash Eric's tokens out, he was holding more than a few dollars and the money might be useful to her. If you had some connection to her and could pass her on to me, I'd be eternally grateful.

She can contact me by

Yeah man, I spoke too his partner earlier today. She was actually in the hospital herself so wasn't at home when he passed. Just awful stuff.

This news is very sad, if I'm not mistaken he was watching the Super Bowl Threadcast with us.

May he go in peace and may goodbye comfort the hearts of his entire family.

That seems to be how it always goes. The good ones leave us too soon, and the absolute worst stick around far longer than anybody would like.

Such sad news but what is going to happen to his account? Is Sharon going to use it or in the very least cash it out?

I'm going to touch base with her and make sure she has access to it all. Eric did print out his keys and everything, so i know he had it all secure. She will have access to it all.

My goodness! It's so sad to read this. I met him on INLEO when I became active. I saw how much he loved threading and I remember the few comments I made on his.

It really hurts to communicate with someone and the next thing you here is the person is no more.

May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace. I pray that God strengthens and consoles his partner.

We will definitely miss his presence on the blockchain. It hurts.

Very sorry to hear that, though I hadn’t met him here on the chain, I’ve spoken to you a number of times and just wanted to say something, other than passing on by. Thoughts go out to his wife and everyone.

It is always a great sadness when we lose a member of our community.

I would have liked to make a commemorative badge as I did previously for other members who left us but unfortunately HiveBuzz is out of service.

If you still have contact with Sharon, please send her my condolences.

Why is HiveBuzz OoS Arcange? Is it maintenance or out, period? It does a lot onchain!

But not yet all, e.g.
https://hive.arcange.eu/witnesses/ is still offline,
also the collections of peakd do not show up in the profile (but maybe that´s another issue).
Anyway glad you could fix most! I would appreciate a post about the post mortem analysis.

Sad to know this. He commented back on many of my threads and encouraged me. It's really tough to see people go when they say good things about you and then suddenly vanish. Rest in peace in Eric.

Thoughts and prayers to his family & friends for peace and strength. 💜 I hope someone will be able to reach out to his widow — after she's had some time to grieve — and help her cash-out his account. As a widow, she can probably make good use of the funds (been there, so I know that first-hand). Thank you for sharing the news, however sad it is.

For all the dear souls I have met on-chain. There will always be an equal amount, of those I have not met. This gentleman, sadly, is one of them. Sending prayers and condolences, to his family, friends, and everyone, touched by this loss.

Love and light ✨

That's very sad news. I remember seeing him in chats on Discord always positive and friendly and most of the times I read about him sharing that his wife was having health issues again / in the hospital. I never saw him complain. How sad that he left this earth while his wife is dealing with her health issues, depending on him so much. I really hope she has a good support system, my thoughts go out to her and the people he left behind..

Wow... I did not come across him often, but he was always someone I recognized as an amicable individual. Just look at his final comment:

That says it all. RIP to the man.

I'll upvote his last few posts 100% just in case his wife somehow manages to get access to his account, so that she could use the funds.
