How A Trip To The Bookstore Ruined My Day...

This is a painful post for me to write....

I have read a lot of them over my years of God's green earth and it's something I truly do enjoy to do in my spare time. I've always state that there are many things I want to leave to my kids and when I pass away, but one of them is...

My personal library!

I've been collecting books for decades now, and have grown my collection nicely. And one of the ways I grow that collection (used to be) my weekly trips to the local bookstores.

There was something so enjoyable about these moments in my weekly schedule...

I would call up my oldest son, we'd go the bookstore, I'd buy a coffee for myself and a drink for my kid....And then we'd just browse.

For hours.

Thankfully, my kid had a love of reading like his old man did as well. So these Friday afternoons were a great way for me to spend time...

And this morning, I was able to do this activity again....

A trip to the bookstore!

Once I got there, I made my way over to the business section and started to browse. This was a big deal for me, because I don't live in the city anymore. So the closest bookstore is about an hour from where I live.

Plus, I hadn't been to any bookstores in months because of my trucking job so...I took advantage. And guess what I found on the shelf?

Whoa!

A book about #web3 ?????

That's the first thing I noticed. But then I read who the author was....Alex Tapscott!

He co-wrote 'Blockchain Revolution' with his father back in like 2015 or 2016, and I credit that book alone for firing up my interest in crypto once again.

That was the first time I heard the term....Smart contract. And I was blown away...

So I started turning the pages in this book.....Skimming though it.

O.K., so mention of Hive yet, but let's check the back of the book in the index.....Surely Hive will be mentioned there...

Guess what I couldn't find in my 5 minutes of skimming through the book? You guessed it, basically the only true #web3 blockchain online.

Now granted, I spent 5 minutes in the book and maybe we're tucked away somewhere in it....But the fact that Hive wasn't even in the index...Was concerning.

Heck, I even looked for 'Steem' to get a mention because, if you want the history of true #web3, surely the take over would be mentioned....Nope.

This is so frustrating to me.

But it's the battle we seem to be facing in this environment. Books written about #web3 without mention of...True web 3. 'Influencers' talking about web 3, without actually using web 3.

Sometimes, I think this crypto stuff is just a fool's game because while we have the technology to truly change the world....I wonder if the world, really wants to be changed.

Until then....Maybe I'll just go looking for different book topics the next time I'm in the stores :)
