So I had this little goal when I started on the blockchain...

5 years...Build!

Don't worry about anything else, just invest the next 5 years of your life into building your business and brand right here.

It's been a fantastic home for me. I've met some amazing people and continue to be motivated by all the amazing entrepreneurs here on the blockchain.

I'm approaching a milestone, as on December 7th it'll be 3 years since I started to go 'all in' on the blockchain.

I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly...And I believe that Hive embodies the human experience. Everything is not as great as we think it is (it can always improve), and it's not as bad as we may think it is either.

Hive to me, is the perfect entry point for new people to a blockchain environment. Embracing new technology is not easy for people, but 'crypto and blockchain' is in the news all the time these days...So if the new person is thrown into DeFi or figuring our send / receive wallet addresses for Bitcoin...They'll lose their mind!

But Hive is built different...

It's a username!

That's your wallet address. Everyday people 'get that'. This is a huge selling point for Hive...

Not only that, once they do figure out their wallet address here, they can plug right into a community or tribe of any niche you can think of.

I hear rumblings of people trying to get away from the rewards pool and focusing on content creation...And while I understand people are in love with DeFi and investment products these days, I think we have first movers advantage in the social sphere.

Bitcoin had the attention of the entire crypto space because it has true believers...Absolutely.

But it also had...First mover advantage!

Hive has that when it comes to blockchain based social media....We should stop ignoring this.

And sure, there will be people that say we've tried this for the past 4 years but...Have we really?

Case in point...Take a look at this MASSIVE proposal that was made to the DHF this week by @niallon11 ...

Pretty much exactly what Hive needs!

Combine that with the amazing work that @fullalt is doing with Hive Tips, the community's constant support of this blockchain on Twitter and you see...We truly have everything we need...

(Expect the 22 million odd voting power needed to get the proposal funded lol)

So yeah, we've talked about 'marketing' on Hive...But have we really put these plans into action?

I would love to see some of this DHF go towards proposals that could really help this blockchain generate the attention it deserves...

Imagine the PASSION of the community, and it being supported by the DHF...What an exciting thought!

And here's the best part...

This is just the tip of the ice berg of what Hive can accomplish!

You see the entrepreneurial sprit alive and well here...From @leofinance and everything they have been crushing...To the games like @dcitygame and @splinterlands ....We are just scratching the surface!

But now it's time I think, to put that DHF to use...To get the word out more about this amazing blockchain...We truly have, everything we need to thrive in the crypto space...

I hope it gets the funding but I would not hold my breath to long! It will have to be done the old fashioned way I think "hard Work" and time but we shall GET THERE! Have a great weekend

That's a great idea and it has my full support!

I don't hold my breath on it, but I do have high hopes in all other tribes, games, and dApps built on Hive to do the "groundwork"... It's different now, than it was a year or two before... We have more dApps, more dedicated, and experienced people, and we are moving slowly forward... LeoFinance has made a huge steps, Splinterlands is on top, and I think it's turn on CTPTalk, Palnet, Neoxian to be in the front-row of Hive!

Don't get me wrong, I am for HIVE marketing, but I like these things that are happening in the meantime... We can't wait for others... And it looks that that way works!

I agree with you here. I believe that it's quite difficult to find a common voice when speaking for hive. Therefore it might be difficult to develop a useful marketing strategy. It's much easier for tribes like CTP. I believe it might be a good idea to put some ads on ctptalk and with the proceeds either buy back tokens to make the price rise or to use the funds to promote the project and onboarding. It would be great if we could add some financial incentives within thehiveguide. When you complete lessons you can get some free CTP for example...

That was proposed a long time ago, but I do understand the struggles that @jongolson has with finding a developer for changes on the CTPTalk frontend...

I hope that he will find someone for that job, and it would become easier to tweak things and bring more value to the tribe..

I agree...It has to be the community and the people in the trenches everyday that build this.

I think the dapps and the communities should be front and center as top witnesses here...The more 'people speaking for the people' we have on top, the better.

Oh yeah. That's what I'm talking about. I think we've got the base that we need to grow from, now we need to grow. I seriously believe that "IF you build it they will come".

Not that we have the current one behind us (sigh) but the next one will involve the whole community in discussion and decisions.

My pet is voting. I seriously believe that voting should be limited for witnesses. I think vote for 5 or maybe 10 is part of the answer. I don't want to cut out stake, not at all, but I want the consensus witnesses to be responsible to the whole chain not 5 stakeholders.

The other part is decay voting (both for witnesses and rewards). If you haven't logged in for 6 months your vote should go away. Period. (I actually think once a month isn't too much to be an engaged member of the community). There are other changes that are going to be suggested also.

God, Jon. Sorry for going off on such a tangent. But voting has a huge impact on using the DHF.

I agree....it really does. And I'm not sure what the answer is...But I know that if we have witnesses that are the ones driving people to Hive, that should always be the focus.

Not just top witnesses from the old blockchain...That's tradition. We need to grow and prosper as an entire blockchain...Not just a select few.

This is an awesome proposal & I think it can really help get things rolling even more on the HIVE blockchain. We are already making huge strides with different dapps (and continuing to do so with new ones), art, communities & so much more. Of course that should all still continue as well as our Twitter efforts. But this DHF will take it to the next level!

I definitely supported it & know things are just beginning to get good as amazing as they are already! Thanks for sharing this! :)

This proposal is a great answer for a lot of problems of Hive. I've supported it with all my accounts and also our common ctpsb account. Hope it's ok for everybody.

Inspired by this proposal I was wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to put some ads on ctptalk? This could generate some ad revenue that could be used to buy tokens and burn them. Even a couple of bucks of ad revenue would have a big impact on the CTP token market that has very little liquidity. It could boost the token price and bring more eyes to it.

I gave you a 100% vote on this one (for what that is worth) due to the fact I was sitting on the fence so long on if I should continue to invest time in #Hive or focus my attention elsewhere. After reading your post it hit me like a stack of bricks.

There is no better place for me to be, especially with my business. Lots of tech professionals here that could use my services and lots of information from them to be gleaned. On top of the business side, there is a lot of topics of interest to me like @slobberchops URBEX posts.

In a matter of 5 minutes or less, I have fallen back in love with Hive. Now to get off my arse and start from the basics again. Revisit the 5/5/5,000 plan, dig into the #HiveGuide to recalibrate myself. Engage, engage and engage more with people here, that is the key piece I need to always remember...(break to write that on a sticky note next to my computer)...and follow through.

Thanks for the huge shout out @jongolson.

As a business person you know all about the benefits of building and branding a strong project from the ground up. This proposal should only be seen as a starting point to try and expand the hive eco-system and to create a positive price cycle.

Monetize content through ads - Increased marketing.
Increase marketing - Bring in more users.
Bring in more users - More ad revenue.
More ad revenue - Increased marketing funds.

And repeat the cycle. All of this leads to a higher price for hive and more people using the system and building on the system which in turn increases the positive cycle.

From there you can keep expanding the vision and use those funds to build the eco-system and to expand into new areas over a few years. Over time this will move to individual tribes, games, interfaces ect... to build their own projects on the chain but for now we need to bring in the people and make this the most attractive place to build and to learn about what is being built.

I would eventually love to see ready built communities like @leofinance that you could buy from hive-engine and start your own version by changing a few options and have wallet, token, ad space, sub-communities already set up and part of the hive-ecosystem. that could be purchased.
Fully fleshed out smt's sites really. That would be too good to resist for a lot of people.

At the moment at least there is nothing being done in regards to expanding the hive brand and trying to market all of the great things that we have build here and nobody looked like they were about to start so hopefully this can gain some traction and I will do as much as I can to impact the chain positively. We need a 5 year marketing plan and revenue targets to fund it.

Build for the long term and do it one step at a time. There are a lot of individual efforts being made but having a team with a single message and co-ordinating these efforts would be a lot better.

Oh man, I think we are just scratching the surface...And like you said, we have all the pieces in place to really cater to wide ranges of industries and niches...We just need to get more people knowing about Hive!
