2 Tips For Building A Personal Brand

crr.png

I was having a fantastic talk with my wife last night about my history of building online businesses. There was a lot of reminiscing of the 'good ol' days' and the passion I have for community and online entrepreneurship.

One of the things we spoke about was my daily live streams that I used to do. She was always blown away how dedicated I was to these streams, no matter what was going on...I was there every day!

If you have known me pre-Hive, you'll remember them well :)

We used to pull about 50-75 people into our afternoon streams and had a ton of fun sharing stories about building businesses online. The fun thing about these streams was it was all off the cuff, nothing was planned. We always felt, this added some humanity to our personal brands, and showed our customers that we were every day people. Not suit and tie 'marketers'.

Being 'human' is a fantastic branding strategy and when you combine it with consistency, you have a winning formula.

I thought it would be a good idea to go over this, especially as most of us here on chain are in the 'business' of building a personal brand.

"Huh? What are you even talking about Jongo?"

Maybe you aren't trying to build a brand for an online business, but your ability to brand yourself here pays BIG dividends. Here's why, there is a massive social element to this blockchain. Heck, it's how people know our wallet addresses lol

So the more people get to know, like and trust you...Your brand on chain, grows. Which means, more followers, more engagement and yes, gasp, even more rewards.

So how about those two elements to building a strong personal brand on chain?

Be Yourself

This was critical for us when we grew our live streams. People wanted to hang out where we were hanging out because they felt like everyone was on a level playing field. We tried to never have this 'top down' approach to our community building, to us our customers were not only business associates but also friends.

(I owned it....Every single mistake I made. Including me in a purple elephant costume!)

By showing our true nature, we attracted more people. We never claimed to be the suit and tie kind of online marketers. We made fun of ourselves, showcased our failures and never did double takes.

Put simply, people related to us because they saw themselves in our daily activities. The trick to this is to be o.k. with screwing up. This is why popular marketing gurus across the internet have said to 'document everything' because in that documenting, you show people that you aren't perfect.

Be Consistent

You've heard this a million times before but when you combine it with being yourself, I can't think of any better strategy for building a brand. And like I have many times before, I reference one of the best books I've ever read on the subject...

(Do yourself a favor, buy and read this book!)

This book by John Hall highlights the importance of staying in front of people consistently.

I don't think we would have gotten 5 people to our live streams if we did them once every blue moon. People knew that at 4pm eastern
, every week day, we'd be on camera sharing our thoughts and experiences with the community about building businesses.

The more people saw that they could count on us to be there, they trusted us. Which meant...More followers, more engagement and more customers!

Did you notice something about these two 'strategies'?

They don't cost a penny!

There is no one time offer to sell you on a program to 'teach' you this. It's literally, in your hands. Be yourself and show up consistently. If you do that over time, your personal brand will grow by leaps and bounds.

On traditional social media, and especially here on the blockchain!

I definitely agree with being yourself and I agree that building a brand is tough. There is so many things around and people have to stay relevant so they have to keep showing up every single day. Otherwise, it's easy to forget them.

This is great and one other thing that is important when it comes to building one's brand is being honest
You have to be honest if you want your brand to grow

I myself have a desire to start my own business in the same way, especially to build my own brand on Amazon and sell it worldwide, so I am working hard to do so within the next few years. Let's start like this.

I can't help but think, no matter what business or niche, this stuff works!

I will have a problem with consistency if I will just allow myself to be myself. I love procrastinating and taking a rest. 😂

Thanks!
