Greater Beginnings....

Yayyy, the new year has begun. It’s something I’m still trying to wrap my head around. Like, we’re in a new year. I mean it’s just another day, technically. But it’s the beginning of amazing things for everyone. It’s not like our slate from last year is wiped clean and we’re suddenly new beings, but it’s a chance to do more. To do better by ourselves. To dare to dream, but not just dream, actively work towards achieving those dreams.

The new year has begun in full force. There was a trending meme, here in my country about the fact that today was a Monday. So the meme basically meant that there’s a reason why the year 2024 is beginning on a Monday. And that it’s because it was trying to alert us that it would be a bloody year and that if we didn’t hustle work hard, we’d go through a lot of hard times.

While it was all a joke, and merely superstition to get people to laugh, I couldn’t help but feel that there was an element of truth to it. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s Monday. I think it’s best to just work with the mindset of doing our best. Not procrastinating and counting each word that proceeds from our mouth so we don’t live in regrets.

I usually have these little conversations with myself and I said to myself this morning, while grinning, that the reason I love writing these thoughtful posts is that it’s a chance to advise myself. I’m the kind of person who sees giving pieces of advice to people and saying all these thoughtful, reflective statements as a means of consciously advising myself and pushing myself on the right track. So far, I seem to be doing well following my advice.

I’ll move straight on to my power-up post because what’s the first day of the month without powering up? I say it time and again and I still feel the same way about powering up. A chance to check my progress on Hive, a chance to appraise myself and see the right steps to take, and of course, a chance to show my support to the Hive ecosystem.

Hive Power(HP)

I started December with 2,630 HP. I’d already said in my last power-up post that I would work actively towards reaching the 3k Milestone before the first of January. I gave myself breaks where I could but I was mostly consistent because of the goal I was aiming for. I was so glad to see that on the 30th of December, I reached 3K HP. I was more than elated because I’d achieved my last goal for the year.

Before powering up 15 Hive today, and bringing my Hive Power to 3077, my HP sat at 3,062. That’s a 432 HP growth last month. I’ve already come to terms with the fact that with the resumption of school, I’ll just not be able to keep up with daily postings or maybe even engagements. But I don’t want to conclude yet. As my academics are a priority, it will come first but I’m determined to squeeze out any time I have after that to be here, also keeping in mind that I should do well to rest so as not to have a breakdown.

I don’t know how possible it is to aim for a 500 HP growth after saying all of these. Even I think that it’s a stretch. But let’s see. Maybe a miracle will happen, lol.

HBD Savings

This one is my baby here on Hive. I enjoy talking about my savings a lot. Sadly, because I was trying to grow my HP, I couldn’t actively devote time to increasing my savings. At the beginning of last month, I had 250 HBD in savings and now, I have 295. That’s a growth of 45 HBD. I’m kind of surprised to be honest, now that I’m looking at this. I didn’t expect it to grow this much, especially since I don’t remember putting much in my savings last month. But I must have because here we are.

The Hive Blockchain has been taken as my second home since I became active. I don’t know what this year has in store for me but the doors keep opening up to blessings and opportunities and I plan to take advantage of each opportunity to better myself and my loved ones. It’s a new year, people. I can’t stop the smile on my face each time I remember that.

I hope this year is filled with love, peace, joy and blessings for all of us. Happy New Year once again to amazing Hivers. We go again!
