Splinterlands: Bortus and Djinn Oshannus is powerful in magic only fights

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had and it's about the card Djinn Oshannus.

Featured Cards

Djinn Oshannus is a water monster that costs 8 mana. It starts off with the void ability. It later learns phase at level 2 and forcefield at level 3. It's a good fast magic monster that also works well as a magic tank.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Wands Out, Counterspell, and Equalizer. This means that only magic monsters can be used and all monsters start with the same health along with the magic reflect ability. There is also 35 mana and I have the choice of water, life, death, or dragon splinter.

My summoner is Bortus because it reduces my enemy's magic damage by 1.

Total Mana:35

I start off with Djinn Oshannus because of the void and phase ability. Then I have Runemancer Kye with life leech as my backup tank. My third monster is Venari Spellsmith with amplify to increase the counter damage. Then I have my support monsters with triage, tank heal, and cleanse.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, this match will be an easy win for me. My opponent has no way to damage me outside of 1 monster and every attack will also deal amplified counter damage. The only thing to worry about is counter damage for me but with my support abilities, I don't think it will be an issue.

Round 4

round 4.png
I took out the first monster and the life leech monsters on my opponents side were not able to heal. Triage is working well to heal up my backline and I am slowly dealing more damage against my opponent. The charge monster wasn't able to damage me at all. Even if it did land, tank heal would heal the damage. There is no chance for my opponent to win at all.

I was able to win the match a few rounds later as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. I reduced my enemy's damage down to the minimum value and I had support monsters to stay alive. I also amplified the counter damage to make sure that my opponent took more damage. The combination of Bortus and Djinn Oshannus was amazing for this magic only match. There wasn't much my opponent could do as I slowly whittled down my opponent's health.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

With that void magic the opponent couldn't even function at all. It's a clever strategy though and it was finished through. Good win.
The Oshannus is even her more dangerous at level 3

Yea. It's a powerful card and at level 3, it gets even more powerful against those strong monsters.

Thanks. I don't think I am getting much better but I do win more than I lose most of the time.
