My Hive-Engine Dividend tokens (Part 1)

avatar

There are a lot of ways to earn crypto here on Hive and one of them is through the side chain called Hive Engine. While some of these may not be as profitable as HBD and its 20% APR, I still like having some of these tokens because they pay out a return. In this post, I will discuss some of the Hive Engine tokens that I hold and give a dividend. It won't be all of them so I will probably follow this up in the future with a part 2.

Hive Engine

Hive Engine is a 2nd layer on the Hive blockchain. It is also the place where a lot of the community tokens exist such as LEO that is linked to LeoFinance. It has also been the place where most games such as Splinterlands create their game tokens and it provides a place for people to buy or sell these tokens. By providing this marketplace, people can have assets linked to their hive account but on the second layer and nobody else can touch it. This has also led to some investment tokens that provide returns for holding or staking. Generally for these tokens, people invest their own funds to buy the tokens and these tokens will then return a part of the earnings they receive. I will talk about some of the Hive Engine tokens that gives out dividends for holding/staking in my own account.

INDEX

The first one that I want to talk about is INDEX. This token is run by the CTP community and it is an index of the best performing tokens in the Hive-Engine market. They even have a HE INDEX website if you want to learn more about the different tokens inside.

  • 80% of all rewards (mining and curation) are paid to INDEX holders based on the percentage of total tokens they hold
  • 10% is used to purchase miners of tokens represented in the INDEX
  • 10% is used for admin fee's
  • Rewards are paid out automatically once a day.
Above is how the project returns value to the investors and I think it is a reasonable structure. I like this token because it gives me exposure to some of the Hive Engine projects that I am not really involved in.

You can see the dividends that I get from holding INDEX tokens. One thing that is good about INDEX is that if you do not reach the minimum payout, the small part you do earn will still accumulate and you will be paid once the minimum threshold is reached. You can view how much rewards you have accumulated here by inputting your username.

SPInvest

This project focuses on the motto of "Getting Rich Slow" and you can find out more on the @spinvest account. This is a project that started even before I joined Hive. It has expanded quite a bit over time so it includes investments into cryptos outside of Hive such as BTC, Defi, and other investments. The latest SPInvest earnings report has more details on the different investments. At the same time, they have also created multiple other smaller projects on Hive such as EDS. I don't have too many SPI tokens but they do return me some Hive every single week.

EDS

One of the projects under the SPInvest umbrella is the EDS project and you can find out more information on the @eddie-earner account. This account focuses on doing everything in Hive and each EDS token is supposed to be backed by 1 Hive each. They also run the Saurday Savers Club where they encourage people to make a yearly goal and to save up over the course of a year. You have a chance of earning EDS tokens if you participate in giving out weekly updates toward your goals. There are also EDSM and EDSMM miners that can mine EDS tokens for you.

BBH

The next token is BBH and it is run by @bradleyarrow. You can find out more about it in this post. The image above also comes from that post. This token rewards holders with SWAP.HIVE weekly if they hold at least 10 BBH. If you hold at least 10,000 then you can also earn some LEO on your dividends. I don't have 10k yet so I only get SWAP.HIVE weekly.

Additionally, BBH is a tipping token and the requirements for it are below and the source for this is in this post.

  • Level 1 = 1000 BBH holdings = 1 tip per day you can send
  • Level 2 = 5000 BBH holdings = 5 tip per day you can send
  • Level 3 = 20000 BBH holdings = 20 tip per day you can send
  • Level 4 = 50000 BBH holdings = 50 tip per day you can send

Currently, I don't have much BBH so I only get around 0.001 SWAP.HIVE but I also did not buy any. I got it from just being around on Hive. I suggest that people take part in his challenge and watch the videos. Once you get the keyword, you can make a thread following his guidelines and you should get some BBH. Additionally, there is a challenge going on right now where you can earn 10k if you make a post talking about BBH (dividends and tipping) that is at least 500 words, tag @bradleyarrow, and include at least 5 LeoGlossary links.

Conclusion

I went over a few dividend tokens that I have in my wallet and I have gathered them when over my time on Hive. These tokens give returns but I am not sure if investing in them is better than investing into the HBD savings for 20%. However, if you want to diversify and also get some exposure to a few different things on Hive, then it is a good choice. Each project has their own advantages and disadvantages so I would choose the ones you like best. In a way, writing this post will let me evaluate the tokens and I can figure out which ones that I want to keep or not.

Feel free to leave a comment if you read my post. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.
