The Practices That Keep Me Grounded

What helps me stay grounded?

For me, it's journaling. I love to take some time every day to write down my thoughts and feelings. Since I started doing this, I have noticed that it helps me to work through my emotions and stay focused on what's important. It also helps me to reflect on my experiences and gain insight into myself.

In 2020, I began keeping a journal about my life, as I was going through a lot of emotional and psychological turmoil. Keeping a journal has been a great way for me to express my emotions and learn from my experiences.

It's also a great way for me to look back on the year and appreciate the progress I've made. Writing has become a form of self-care for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Currently, that book is filled with several emotions, which is why it is a great way for me to reflect and learn from my experiences.

Journaling has allowed me to understand my feelings and process difficult events in a healthy way. It has also been a great outlet for me to practice creative writing and explore my thoughts and ideas.

Additionally, it has been a great tool to hold myself accountable and stay motivated

However, something odd keeps happening to me and I don't know why.

When I am so overwhelmed that I can't write how I feel, I always feel like burning that book. I don't know if my mind unconsciously suggests that to me so I can forget painful memories.

As if that would help me get rid of all the feelings. I just don't understand why I keep having these same thoughts over and over again.

Good thing I haven't succumbed to that thought. I still keep a journal and practice mindfulness. Writing down my thoughts has helped me to find clarity and understanding. It helps me to gain perspective and to make better decisions. Taking a mindful approach to life has also allowed me to appreciate the present moment and to better understand my emotions

Lastly, I take time for myself each day to meditate and reflect, it helps me to stay in touch with my inner self.

It helps me to stay focused, to be more present in my life, and to be more mindful of my actions. I also find that journaling helps me to process my thoughts and feelings in a constructive way.

I can certainly relate, as deeply reflectling with my heart being my compass, has allowed me to strengthen my faith. Thanks for the lovely post.

Writing a journal is an excellent way of not only dealing with emotions - putting them on paper, formulating them, naming them - but it also allows you to return to them after some time. To see how many of them were just empty emotions and how many of them were real problems. Time changes a lot and it is good to keep some moments also in order not to repeat them:)

but it also allows you to return to them after some time

This is the key word.

I always had difficulty remembering past events in my life which most times can be frustrating and that was one of the reasons I decided to start writing down my feelings and the events as well.

True, time changes a lot. Thanks for the beautiful comment😊

Yeah, I can understand that. Sometimes I remember the event quite well but cannot remember exact time, or even year :D

Writing helps to put mind at ease, and keeps events in order. Mind tend to change/bend our past, which can lead to making the same mistakes again. Better have this all on paper - this way we can always get back to this and see - 'oh, yeah, something similar happened before. I should be very careful at this point' :)
