Breads' Recap - Beyond the Mint: Glue That Holds Communities Together

Well, I definitely feel a bit silly for completely sleeping through the Twitter Space I had marked to join about "How To Keep Your Community Engaged After Mint"! As someone brought into the Space thanks to Hive Marketing's campaign but without much background on web3 communities specifically, I was really hoping to learn some tips on sustaining engagement and momentum for any type of community post-launch.

Unfortunately my brilliant plan to wake up and participate live at such an early hour fell victim to sheer exhaustion. Fortunately however, I noticed the campaign's organizers later opened up this recap opportunity even for those who missed the original space but still wanted a chance to listen to the recording, engage and earn XP.

While I definitely won't be able to summarize EVERY brilliant point covered, I'm going attempt to distill some of the core advice and strategies recommended by the guest speakers for keeping members invested and excited about a community over the long term.

So without further ado, here is my RECAP of key engagement retention takeaways from the

Firstly, speakers stressed that leaders must set an example of the energy and engagement expected from members. Be active participants themselves, praise others who make valuable additions, and drive a welcoming vibe. Tactics shared included giving members cool titles matching talents/skills to feel special and planning silly activities so bonding happens more through informal fun than boring work stuff alone.

Make Participation Fun

Basically, good leaders think community-building itself matters - not just completing tasks. Transform stuff people "should" do into stuff they want to by making participation entertaining. Help form inside jokes and memories turning a community into an extended family via constant enjoyment.

Also vital is members feeling listened to, valued, and cared about enough to stay loyal even in hard times. Can't take support for granted - must show respect for the real humans making up the group.

Potential issues crop up if viewing members as just numbers or money generators rather than multifaceted people. Since web3 runs on networked cooperation putting individuals first again becomes key.

In summary, lasting connections stem from caring bonds more than rules or rewards. While tech opens doors for strangers to gather easily, deeper ties take understanding each other and lifting burdens together. So for long term communities beyond hype, spotlight principles forming the heart of all thriving human circles across history - with modern tools but timeless compassion.

Set Clear Expectations

A common issue is projects having vibrant, engaged communities during the hype leading up to minting but then activity falling off dramatically afterward. To combat this, speakers shared tactics to sustain excitement long-term.

For example, setting clear expectations about the project's purpose and possibilities allows members to calibrate involvement accurately rather than feeling disappointed later. Overpromising during the minting frenzy should be avoided as it prompts disengagement upon realizing unfeasible goals. Leaders must model reasonable pacing aligned to roadmaps.

Additionally, communities centered solely around profit-seeking often crumble when monetary rewards slow. Thus, fostering shared principles, camaraderie and entertainment value becomes necessary adhesive. Scheduling lively activities, trivia, contests, etc. gives members fun reasons to keep showing up during slower periods rather than just chasing airdrops. Participation should feel lively versus monotonously business-like.

Give Members Responsibility

Assigning members special roles and responsibilities boosts feelings of ownership while allowing distributed workload rather than founder burnout. This empowers members to shape community direction collaboratively according to unique talents and competencies.

Overarching all tactics is a spirit of friendship, compassion and human bonding on which impactful communities have always been built. Web3 enables new structures but success still stems from meaningful relationships, empathy and interdependence. The most tight-knit communities arise when participation feeds souls rather than mere wallets.

So in summary - clarity, candor and active engagement. Avoiding post-mint disappointment by responsibly setting targets then meeting them. Pursuing sustainable fun alongside any profit. Embracing member passions through involved participative culture rather than top-down decrees. And fostering an atmosphere allowing genuine connection to blossom so people feel heard, valued and impactful.

Conclusion

My main conclusion - no amount of tactics can replace genuine human bonds and heart as the foundation determining whether communities stand the test of time.
