LET'S EMBRACE THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS: A CELEBRATION OF LOVE, TOGETHERNESS AND TRADITION.

The holiday period is a season of love, joy, warmth, and merriment. During this period of holiday, the heart of it is the Christmas celebration. The period of Christmas is one of the most valuable holidays as far as history is concerned, and it is not just a season of celebration but also a period of uniting families. Families go apart for the sake of financial growth and development in various aspects of life, but this is the only period where the memories of growing together are being recreated, and of course, it is of necessity to know that period like this shouldn't be taken for granted.

The Established Way of Life

During this period of Christmas, it has been known for its traditional representation through the display of twinkling lights, evergreen trees, the setting of a fireplace, and the making of sound using musical instruments. This specific pattern has been a tradition for centuries, so why ignore this all-around joyous moment?

The period of holiday also functions in religious distinguishing and identification. As some are entitled to celebrate while others are not, that is a perfect way of identifying.

I need the holiday.

The path where we go through our yearly activities without having to see our families places mostly our parents in a position to miss us so much, which will likely cause emotional issues when we fail to show up on holidays. Sharing my experience recently, my father called and was trying to go to that aspect of traveling home. Listening to him, I just didn't want to accept the idea of me going home by telling him I would be busy. Hehe, busy doing what? I asked myself. Not that I had anything serious to do, but I just wanted to hear his own reasons why I should go home. Then, an explanation started elaborating and trying to convince me to go. Deep down, I am at home already. I have already saved money for some December spending because a few of my friends put a call across reminding me of the Christmas celebration.

The first thing I did was call my supplier for a full goat, for which I have deposited part of the money. ₦50,000 isn't too much to pay for the meat to be used for celebration. The year has been so demanding; a lot happened along the way, but above all, I am grateful for the gift of life. I know transportation will be so expensive during that period. I would have loved to travel in a week, but my schedule doesn't permit me to leave anytime soon. I just have to travel during the hike in transportation costs; of course, this has been what I have been experiencing for a few years now.

Drinks wouldn't be an issue as there will be provisions for our traditional wine, which is palm wine in gallons, and a carton of beers for my friends who would go for soft drinks or palm wine.

My parents not being aware of me traveling home is just so funny to me, which will take them by surprise. I just can't wait to see my siblings, whom I haven't seen for a while now.
