This post marks the second #forthelord posts, forming a simple discipline of praying, reading scripture and sharing what was learned online. There are three steps:
- Pray - Prayer is our talking to the Lord.
- Read - We read to hear Him.
- Share - Use the #forthelord tag on your posts or videos in Social media.
Pray and Seek
Most High God
Creator of the Universe
We approach you in the name
of Your beloved Son
Your Only Begotten
Saviour of the world
Your Right Hand
Please grant us Your Peace
the Peace that is beyond understanding
While the world trembles in fear
We tremble at Your Word
And we raise our hands towards you
For we know our redemption draws near
Please take possession of Your servants
And grant us our inheritance
Only according to Your will
According to our worthiness
And we are but dust and ash
Yet You are full of mercy and favor
For those who tremble at Your Word
And seek after Your Will
Amen
Read and Listen
Reading the Song of Solomon, we read about the relationship between the king and his people. There are many messianic symbols in this scripture, but the one that catched my attention is this:
I sleep, but my heart waketh: It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, My dove, my undefiled: For my head is filled with dew, And my locks with the drops of the night.
Knocking. Hearing. Opening.
"If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”
Yeshua is knocking and speaking, it is our duty to hear and open. But what happens in the parable?
I have put off my coat; How shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; How shall I defile them?
The woman is complaining about the discomfort of having to get out of bed, put on a coat, wash feet. What a bother!
I rose up to open to my beloved... opened to my beloved; But my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: My soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
That didn't go as expected! She DID hear his voice, she DID open the door... but He wasn't there! Why?
It does not seem as if when she heard, she did not respond correctly. By the time she opened, it was too late. He had moved on and she had to seek after Him.
Many are called, few are chosen.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin
