Some newbie thoughts and suggestions

Hive is a decentralized platform and here we are the owner of our own accounts and we can publish without any restrictions and it is the beauty of the web 3.0 platform. I joined here approximately 2 years ago and during that time ups and downs happened in my life and several times I left the Hive platform. The vision was quite simple and it was that I wasn't about to understand the potential of this platform. Later I realised the potential and came back strongly.

made by me using canva

In the beginning time, one thought came to my mind many times why I have not received upvotes from whales. I used to think my article was the qualitiful one and I deserved whales upvote. I also felt many higher reputation users receiving whale upvotes when their post wasn't as qualitiful as my post and they were getting upvotes because they became favorite users of whales. At that time I wasn't able to reach for help from others to know better about the platform and how the system works here. So those were the thoughts that came to my immature mind and I think the same kind of thoughts may also come to the mind of the current newbie too. So today I am here to talk about such kinds of thoughts and what you should do when it comes to your mind.

Firstly if you are a newbie then you consider yourself lucky. It's because when I joined this platform, it was not so easy to get a guideline. The reason was most of the users joined here almost similar time and there are knowledge was not enough to provide guidelines because they were also facing difficulties understanding everything. Few users were available to provide guidelines and most of the time it happened that newbies could not reach to those users who could provide guidelines. But in the current time, newbies can easily get the support of others easily if they can receive guidelines from many users. I think every experienced user doesn't deny helping newbies if they ask for help. Besides some programs/campaigns have been ongoing in recent times and their main purpose is to train newbies and provide every support and guidelines a newbie needs. Because of it a newbies can understand about this platform better.

Let's talk about the post quality. It is our nature to think our post quality is the best quality but I believe that our post quality can be better than the current time and there exists the possibility of improvement. Besides, I think we should not consider our first quality to others because every author has their unique style of writing because of their unique thoughts. So comparing your article with another author is illogical but it is advisable if you can learn something from other authors then you can try to learn it to improve the quality of your article.

In the case of receiving upvotes from whales, I think still newbies are the lucky ones. At the current time, some whales trying to reach newbies to keep them motivated. So if you are writing quality content then there is a good number of possibilities to receive upvotes of whales. If you are not receiving upvotes of whales then try to keep improving your quality and whales won't be able to ignore your presence. But remember that nothing is granted and you should not feel demotivated if you are not getting good rewards.

Don't think Hive is only a platform for earning. Expand your insight of because it's more than that and think of Hive like a family. If you are a beginner then first you should focus on your growth rather than focusing on getting more rewards. Remember that with your growth many things will be easier for you. You can learn many things and gain knowledge from other's posts and indirectly it will help you to improve your post quality, Besides engagement will help you to stay motivated because it will help you to make friends and they have the power to motivate you. Do you know in my case sometimes I felt very good when I received some good comments even if I didn't receive rewards? Besides engagement and growth help to get rewards automatically.

The another thing I advise newbies is not to be jealous. This is the thing which can be harmful to you. I have seen some user who always check how many reward other user receiving. Sometimes I feel they check other people's rewards more than their own and feel disappointed for receiving low rewards in their posts. It really creates an impact on your mind and then on your activity which is not good for you. In this case, you should think " I will improve my post-quality and one day I will get rewards like them". One is jealousy and another is self-spirit which is different from each other.

If you think that I violated any rules of this platform or my word hurting you or I made any mistakes here , let me inform about it through comments or my other social network . I will try to correct it if I made any mistakes.

Newbies are luckier now because they are supported by curators. But of course, it depends on their quality content and engagement.
As for the whales, it's just a matter of luck. Once you got upvotes of other curators, you'll have a chance to be noticed by whales..
But I guess engagement is more important here. That's how you'll be noticed by others

Yes, engagement is the thing which helps to get noticed by others as well as by the whales also. I think it helps a newbie to remain motivated. I can still remember some users left the platform earlier because of low patience and I think they might be lucky is they joined in the recent time. But still patience matters a lot.

I also noticed that, newbies are luckier now, they are more supported by big curators unlike before when I was a newbie only users visited my published works and they just leave comments and no upvotes😅..oh well I don't blame them..greetings😊

Newbies are very lucky because when I joined, I had no one to really put me through. And you are right whales are after their content. My introductory post almost got any vote, but I am glad anyway.

They are lucky because they came here at a good time but we are also lucky because we came here early and started to grow from earlier. Finding positivity from each situation.

These are some really nice advice, Inti. Thank you for sharing them and I believe they will be very insightful for newbies and old Hive users alike.

It can be challenging to get noticed when you are new but patience and consistency can help.

Patience and consistency is the thing which is needed almost in every case. I think both quality is also needed in hive and dedication should be added here if anyone think about it long term.

Exactly. People have different perspectives, what is quality to me might not be to you.

I love how you touched some points that most people don’t like jealousy.

It is a very nice post.

Yes, post quality can't be determined by us because I feel the reader will determine it but we should try to give our best effort to bring the best outcome of us. Here jealousy can bring damage on their own only. So it's better not to feel jealous.

Yeah that is true, few years ago we had few knowledgeable people who are aware about the conduct and potentials of hive but these days we have a lot of them due to the numbers of people getting onboard on hive each day. During the newbie marathon challenge held few months ago on dreemport I realised how lucky the newbie of this generation were. Can you imagine different hive whales going out there in search of newbies by themselves without the stress of Newbies trying to attract their attention.

This kind of innovation were not available those days, which made it a lot difficult to climb to the top.

It took me awhile before I understood the value of engagement on hive, well thanks to #dreemport that further provide an avenue to engage with others authors. Everyone is an author on hive and everyone is a reader which means the product we all produce (contents) we are also the sole consumer of it, when you engage sincerely on other authors post its create a form of connection with them and in some cases most of them get to see how knowledgeable you are through your comments.

Eventually I discovered the value of engagement and I realise what I have been missing.

Being jealous of other people's reward is a childish mentality, instead of being jealous a user can be curious about how the author is getting such rewards which could be as a result of many things including engagement.

Yes, Many good users left this platform earlier because of a lack of patience but I believe that one user should have patience and consistency otherwise it's hard to continue here and each time reward won't come. It's wise to think about Hive in the long term and It's better for a user here.

Indeed newbies are lucky but we were also lucky because we joined earlier and we started to grow here earlier and gained various kinds of knowledge which is priceless.

I think engagement is the key and it helps to grow faster here. I think it helps a user to make friends which is also necessary. I appreciate the dreemport challenge very much.

Jealousy is not a childish act. It's natural because as a human jealousy is natural but we need to overcome the jealousy and think about other's success in a positive way as you said.

Hive is a family, a place for learning and earning as well, these three must never depart from any new user, one must be patient enough to learn before he/she can start thinking of earning. I was very lucky when I came onboard because I had someone to put me through. Most times I advise new users to ask questions where they don't understand, no one is an island of knowledge, we are family here, we are not in competition or trying to show off we learn and we grow together.

Yes, those three is a requirement if anyone wants to stay in hive. I was not as lucky as you and I think it's the thing which gave me a tough time but the good thing is that I found a mentor later who supported me a lot to understand. Ask questions helps one to know more about the blockchain. I appreciate it very much.

I noticed this too especially ocd are good are encouraging new members. As far as you make a good introduction post you must have goo curation and I will always say that shoo make you stop there.
Whales coming to the new account is just like say
We love you but keep being consistent

That's good for newbies and I think it will help to bring more new members in hive. I think it's the best strategy for the growth of the platform and in the future, it will be much better than now.
Sorry for the late reply. I was busy with my offline task.
