Hello and welcome to all the readers.

Today in 'back to basics' we explore affiliate marketing

what is affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is the process by which an affiliate earns a commission for selling or introducing to someone else's product/opportunity

Basically, you get a percentage of the sales.

How do you get started

  • Decide on the niche you want to promote
  • Find affiliate programs for that niche
  • create content on your blogs to promote
  • Send traffic to that sites
  • Get signups and convert them to sales.

It all sounds easy, but if you select a wrong niche or a program, it will be very difficult to make sales
Traffic and sales conversion also plays a great role.

Different ways the affiliate can earn and get paid

  • Pay per click - the affiliate will send the traffic to the site, for every click it generates, he/she will be paid, irrespective of a sale is made.

  • Pay per lead - the affiliate will send the traffic to the site. When they sign-up as interested, they become a prospective buyer, i.e., lead

  • Pay per sale - the affiliate will send the traffic to the site, he/she will be paid only when a sale is completed.
Some companies have fixed rate of commission per sale. While others pay based on the volume of sales done over a period of time, i.e. commission percentage increases as the total sales increase.

Different ways to promote affiliate marketing

  • infiuencers - These are mostly celebrities or content creators who have a huge following.
Basically, they have the power to impact the purchasing decisions of a large segment of the population
They benefit from the huge following and earn a good share of profits.

  • Bloggers - They are content creators who review the products and recommend them.

  • Email Lists - Email lists contains the list of prospects who may be interested in the niche you are promoted.
Some affiliates have email lists they can use to promote a specific niche. Others may leverage email newsletters that include hyperlinks to recommended products, earning a commission on sales.

Fact: 95% of them fail in affiliate marketing. They may get some odd sales though. Only 5% are successful in making good money.
That's the truth of affiliate marketing.
