Of Mirrored Stuff & A Grateful Evening at the Balcony

On the way home from my in-law's place on Saturday evening, I was teasing the husband to get us a box of pizza. I wasn't serious though as I prefer hot soup on rainy days, especially when outside.

One of the snack houses that we were thinking about had the "Sorry We Are Closed" signage so we drove down to the valley where we decided to instead of snacks, have an early dinner. Most of the food houses were already closed. It was a stormy day after all. Thankfully, the Balcony Café was still open. It was 5:30 late afternoon when we took our seats.

There were only 4 customers so I had the chance to take some photos. This might already be familiar to some as I shared about our meal dates at this place quite a few times in the past. We love having the good ole Clubhouse Sandwich here.

A view from the inside of the coffee shop. It overlooks a partial area of the school, a previously buzzing educational institution but one of the largest state universities in the region took over the management many years ago and is now looking rather empty with the high school department completely removed.

Anyhow, the attendant came for our orders. After which I took the chance to capture a bit more photos.

Normally, the husband would be fiddling with his phone but because the place has a weak mobile reception, he just left it on top of the table. The scenes below were mirrored on his smartphone's screen.

Thinking that the hubby's phone takes better photos, I switched it with mine, then continued on with the wee photoshoot.

By this time, the server came informing me that my chosen dish could not be served. As most of the food on the menu was marked X (which means they are unavailable) and there was not much of a choice, I opted to go with the same thing as that of the husband.

A quick shot of the café. On school days, this place is often full of students. Since classes have not started yet, there ain't much, except for two young ladies across where we were seated and the other pair who had left a few minutes after we came in. The tabletops are laminated and a few things have also been reflected on them.

After a while, a group of customers came and they sat next to our table. Two of the guys were quite cheerful and they seemed to know us but we could not figure out who they were. The husband thinks they are from my father's place based on their accent. Although we were curious, we thought it would be rude to ask them their names so we just chitchatted with them about random stuff.

One of them noticed that our orders were yet to be served and teased the chef might still be catching a boar elsewhere, LOL!

We expected our food would be served on hot plates since we ordered sizzlers but not so! We were grateful nonetheless and ate quietly without complaint. At least someone made food for us to fill our hungry stomachs on such a stormy evening when others had shut their doors early.

Meanwhile, it's Monday here and thankfully, Saola left and the sky is now clearing up. I'm feeling it's going to be a fantastic new week!

Photos are my own. 28082023/10:05ph*

Haha, I only took one shot of the food so I opted not to include it. I got sidetracked and posted on "My Blog" instead of on the Shadow Hunters, lol!
