LeoFinance & The Adoption Campaign

avatar
(Edited)

A little over 40 days ago (May 1st), the Adoption Campaign ensued on Zealy. For those who are not aware about it, it's an initiative by LeoFinance which aimed to introduce it's new interface and Hive in general. That is to increase the monthly active userbase and for more people to learn about LeoThreads, the short-form or microblogging UI which LeoFinance had been working on for nearly 2 years and what was used to be called ProjectBlank. Part of the UI is an easier way to onboard users via some traditional sign up methods (i.e. Web 2 social media like Twitter or Email). The beta UI launched on the same day as the adoption campaign and has been continually improving since.

But first off, salute to Eric (aka anomadsoul or leogrowth) for coming up with the concept, setting up, designing the quests and everything else. I heard it took him 3 months to organize them and of course, the countless hours and days to check on the entries, approve them and such. His dedication is truly commendable and shows how passionate he is in helping the Leoverse grow and thrive. It's inspiring and motivating to see. Thank you ser for all that you do.

My Feedbacks

Quest design and sequencing

Eric is definitely great at what he does. How the quests have been designed and sequenced is mind-blowing. It makes one anxious and excited of what is coming next especially with the locked tasks.

There is something for everyone from Daily Quests to Weekly and Monthly ones. From the simplest (like making a random thread) to intermediate and more complex tasks (like writing various articles requiring research to vlogging, to creating artwork which challenges one's creativity and such).

The time-limited quests are good too and I think it made people learn to come up with certain strategies so as not to miss them.

Surprise Quests

These (especially the Weekend Battle and the Battle of the 3 Armies) got people threading like crazy. These tasks also stress-tested the UI which I believe have been helpful with the developers and they probably have gathered data or feedback to work out solutions and enhance the UI even more.

These definitely increased tensions and excitement. These too have shown how much people can do when their user experiences are gamified.

Personal Experience

There had been many things learnt and discovered through this campaign and the experience has been truly enriching. It tested my resolve and patience too. Although some of the quests became tiring at some point, it had been fun for the most part and made me realize where my weaknesses are and hopefully be able to work on them.

I'm quite sure other participants have had something to learn too from the campaign and may have discovered certain potentials they never thought they have. That's one of the most positive impacts of the 40-day long campaign, I believe.

Conclusion

The Adoption Campaign had been a real good challenge and the impact of which is mostly positive, both in the participants' experiences and the community as a whole.

LeoFinance is certainly a growing ecosystem that is continuously building not only its infrastructure but the community as well. With the Zealy campaigns like what has just concluded and all the other initiatives that are being born, it is exciting to see how it's going to be in the next months and years.

One very positive effect, from my end, was thinking about how I can put useful content in the form of Threads. Using threadstorms to post medical tidbits was what came to mind! It's something I plan to continue to do intermittently.

That sounds great. Can be done through a threadstorm :)

All the best with you on that.

For various reasons, I never got started with the Adoption Campaign. Though I have enjoyed reading some of the outcomes. Especially, summaries like this post. So thanks for your great contribution to making Threads an amazing Web3 destination.

I guess I struggle with microblogging, thought the campaign might kick-start me, but now I feel like I'm missing out. Mostly, I struggle with the "etiquette" of Threads. Such as threadstorms, and when/where to include links.

Please can you recommend any posts, tags, or other links that might help me engage more with Threads?

Generally, there is no restrictions on threads. You can start by engaging with other people, commenting on threads and creating random threads yourself. That's what I usually do. I only create 5-10 personal threads a day as I prefer commenting.

I have not encountered any recent posts about how to thread. But will share here if I see one. But the idea of threads is simple and it basically like Twitter where you can post any topic or even random thoughts, photo with captions etc. I'm using my alt (ifarmgirl-leo) on threads so we can engage there if you do thread. Feel free to tag my alt so I can see it.

Here's one idea of what to thread too:

Will add other posts here as I find them.

Calendar Threading is very interesting as a prompt for Threading ideas when writer's block has set in. I think it would be great if each community adopted their own version.

Thanks for your encouragement. I'm now organising myself to respond to comments as soon as I can. Then I'm ready to get Threading. 😀

Yes. It's a good prompt. Sometimes I struggle to create threads myself and they are a saver. Most times, I just engage on other people's threads.

All the best and see you then :)

The adoption campaign was very interesting and I enjoyed being active there. I missed many things because of my forgetting nature and made me inactive in the middle of the campaign. But at the ending time the Three lions battle made me active again.

By the way , In last several hours I am trying to enter in leofinance frontend but it showing error. Do you know the reason, why?

There is an ongoing update so the UI is not accessible.

I'm glad the campaign has generally made you active. I see some people wanting to have another😅

I also want another campaign like this one. It's because everyone enjoys and a spirit came to us when challenges occur.

There is an ongoing update so the UI is not accessible.

Thank you for providing the information.

I believe there will be more campaigns on zealy and in fact, you can still do the tasks which are open now and keep accumulating XP.

I thought it was over. Then I should keep accumulating more XP. Ok, then I will do it.

The Leo community is something to look out for. The way the team behind the project manages to get people involved and engaged is at another level. Beautiful write up. Now we wait as see the positive growth that awaits the Leoverse.

I seem to have missed the 'Battle Of The 3 Armies' but regardless, I think it's really cool to see the community and platform come together for events like this. Hope there will be more in the future!
