I Wish Dogs Could Live Forever [Tribute Songs]

I would like to believe that most of us have heard of this, yeah? The truth is, although I listened to this years ago, I didn't know that this was a remake. I always thought Baha Men was the original composer but learned it was Anslem Douglas.

Interestingly, this brought the band success, although it was short-lived. It even gave them a Grammy Award and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite Song category and another for Favorite Band in the early 2000s.¹

Well, the song has that lively vibe that makes one bust some moves.

Meanwhile, sad news came in this afternoon. My niece Kaycee called informing us that their doggo whom we call Bi has passed away. He wasn't sick, nor was hurt she said, but he just slept and never woke up.

I didn't know how to console her so I just explained dogs have short lifespans, most of them live up to 15 years and Bi was 12 so maybe it was his time. She seems to have understood it and narrated their grandpa had buried him already in their yard. She grew up with him in the family so Bi is like an older brother to her.

These next songs are dedicated to him and all the other furry friends whom we and others out there have lost over the years.

StoweGood - Old Friend

This is a very heartfelt tribute from StoweGood, a touring duo from Nashville composed of Grammy-nominated Karen Taylor Good and hit songwriter Stowe Dailey.

This was my first time listening to them but I fell in love with this song right away, not only because of the lyrics or the message but also of their beautiful voices.

Jameson Rodgers - Good Dogs

Good dogs don't live long enough... I couldn't say more but share the chorus:

Good trucks they’ll run forever
If you keep oil in ‘em and you treat ‘em right

Tyler Farr - I Wish Dogs Could Live Forever

The story goes that Tyler has a dog named Cooter whom he lost in 2018. That's probably why he wrote this song.

This perfectly echoes my sentiments today, and I believe the wish of all who have four-legged, furry friends. I'm a first-time fur mom and I don't even want to imagine how it feels to lose one.

And there ends the tribute set to all of man's best friends who have gone beyond the rainbow.
