HPUD, Leo Marketing Initiatives & Hive, An Underrated SocialFi

The new month arrived without a glitch, thankfully. Not that the passing of days have glitches, or do they? Well, it's September and there are quite a few things happening on the chain.

First, the HPUD tradition

Except for newbies, I believe most of us are already aware of this ongoing Hive Power Up Day initiative every first of the month. Speaking of which, I just added 20 HIVE to my stakes, making me a little closer to my 15k Hive Power goal before the year ends (15,000 - 13,188 = 1,812 HP to go). That translates to staking at least 14 HIVE daily until the end of December. I suppose that's achievable, yeah?

Apart from enjoying the things I do, building my Hive Power (and Leo Power for my alt) has always been one of the driving forces behind my daily activities here on the blockchain - staking, posting, and engaging every single day - although not every day is the same.

Hive is basically my only social media account _{(well, except for X and Discord which I occasionally use)} and I believe it's going to be that way for a long while. So just in case you are one who doesn't like seeing me around, I'm sorry to say this but this gal is not going anywhere, LOL!

Kidding aside, Hive is an underrated SocialFi which most people are missing out on. More about that towards the end of this post.

Second, LEO Kickstarting its Marketing Campaign

I believe most of us already know about Leo's DHF Proposal and pretty soon, it is going to start its onboarding initiative through a series of marketing campaigns. One of which is the Adoption Campaign through Zealy where it aims to and I quote:

Weaponize the Hive Community to generate snowball effects through Guerilla initiatives and Social Media prompts.¹

In short, gamifying the user experience and involvement through a variety of tasks or prompts.

Per my understanding, there are two Zealy communities created for this and the campaign and activities will run continuously until December 31, 2024 (about 15-16 months):

✅The Onboarding Community

Accordingly, this is where newcomers (new users) will be referred to learn and navigate (in a gamified approach) the basics of Leo and further, of Hive and the applications in it, and of Web 3 too.

I imagine this to be simple, fun, and hopefully interactive to keep new users excited, stick around, and make Hive their social media too.

✅The Adoption Community

This, on the other hand, is where already existing Hive users can join, get involved, and be rewarded. I imagine this is where we amplify our engagement, spread our upvotes, and perhaps create a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers.

Hive, An Underrated SocialFi

I say it is SocialFi because Hive is a real combination of social media and decentralized finance. The blockchain allows us (users) to enjoy the social media aspect while enabling us to benefit from our activities. And it is truly underrated considering the number of active userbase.

There is no denying that here, we have the following advantages:

• We have the ability to monetize _{(get incentivized on)} almost all of our interactions and/or content by using any of the applications.

• We have complete control and management of our accounts, wallets, content, and our own digital identity if I may say so. No one will ever have the ability to take control of accounts unless we lose our keys to another.

• Here, we have the power to spread the Layer 1 (HIVE and HBD) and Layer 2 assets (LEO etc) through our own actions (upvoting), that is if we have stakes, of course.

• Additionally, depending on our stakes, we have a say in the governance.

• And for the techies and developers, the blockchain is open for them to build on!

Quick Thoughts

• The Leo marketing initiatives are geared toward onboarding new users to Hive through its frontend. While initially, it may focus on making newcomers familiarize themselves with using the Leo UI, the final goal is to make them learn about Hive in general, use the different applications on the chain, and stick around with us, for good.
