How to Create a Better Leo Post, Threads & Tweet (For Leo Finance Curation)

avatar
(Edited)

I think most of us agree that curation here on Hive is still quite a puzzle and most curators do not really share why they upvote this post or that and we are kept wondering how. It can be frustrating trying to figure out, yes?

That is changing though in LeoFinance as they are working on ways to improve the distribution of their curation. The great thing too is that they are transparent about these so we aren't kept in the dark. There are various methods that have been introduced recently and I'm going to share two today for those who have not read or encountered them.

But first, we have to know which posts or contents are eligible for LeoFinance curation. Because whether we like it or not, there are certain requirements and we got to satisfy them to better our chances. And of course, with many long-form contents created every now and then, we do want to stand out, right? Read on...

How to Create a Better LeoFinance Post

Most recently, Eric has put out three posts relating to this. The first one is What Makes a Post Curatable on Leo where he laid out the basics of a good LeoFinance post. I recommend giving it a read for a more detailed explanation.

From his post, these are what I have digested so far:

👉 Post should be well-written, original content (no AI generated), interesting topic, proper formatting or post structuring, free from spelling or grammatical errors.

👉 Incorporating LeoGlossary links. Here's a quick guide on how to do that. Why the need to add in links? It helps in the SEO not only for LeoFinance but for Hive in general. In addition, the keywords you link might provide more information to your reader.

👉 Use of visual aids (images) related to your post and of course, they should be properly sourced and cited. AI-generated images are okay as long as they are just used to support your post and not the main focus.

👉 Indicate sources of information too in support of your claims especially if they are researched topics.

👉 Preferably 500 words or more (although any length is considered but curators tend to appreciate longer ones.

👉 Provide value or share knowledge and information and help in the vision of LeoFinance to democratize access and knowledge to Finance and related topics.

What I understand from these is that we don't need to be experts on what we write about but following the guidelines laid out can help our posts stand out.

And to get more eyes to our content, we share them on LeoThreads and on Twitter. But there are also better ways than just dropping our bare links there.

Sharing LeoFinance Post on Threads

Most people just share their content links on threads. But LeoFinance has a recommended format on how to do it better and that will also give us the chance for our post to get curated especially if we followed the basics of a curatable post as mentioned above or on Eric's post.

For this, there is what they call the curation via threads or the Threads Outreach method and Eric has given details about it on his post. Do give it a good read, understand and apply them.

Here's a summary of what I understood from, re:

💥 After publishing your LeoFinance post, go to LeoThreads and share your content in the following sequence (via a threadstorm):

  • First Thread is an introduction to your content, you can add your post thumbnail. Use tags #threadstorm and #outreach (these two tags are vital if you want your thread to be discovered by curators) and you may add another tag that is related to your content. Also, use "1🧵" or this phrase: "Here is a threadstorm about ..." (these are important too).

  • On the second thread (reply to your first thread), write additional teaser or info about your content that will make the reader interested. You can include another image from your post here. No link yet.

  • And on the third thread (still a reply to your first thread), add your Leo post link.

Here's an example of a good Threads share.

These are simple and easy-to-follow steps so I believe we can all do it.

Sharing LeoFinance Post on Twitter

Another medium to share your Leo post is Twitter. There are Leo Finance curators that are scouring the site for Leo content shared there. They call this the Twitter Outreach. To get a chance for Leo curation (especially if your post follows the basics of curatable Leo content), there are also things to consider and follow, re:

💥 After publishing your long-form Leo post, go to Twitter and create a 3-Tweet thread, re:

  • First Tweet tells something about your content. Add your post thumbnail and use only two hashtags relevant to your content (NOT #hive or #leofinance). Use "1/🧵" or "Here's a Thread about..."

  • On the second tweet (reply to your first tweet), give an additional teaser. Add another image from your Leo post. No link here yet. Add "2🧵" of course.

  • Third tweet (still as a reply to your first tweet), add your Leo Finance post link. Use the hashtags #hive and #leofinance. Add "3🧵"

Here's a sample Tweet share.

Read more details here. There is an example of how to do it.

Personal Conclusion

A "good post" is subjective and we all have our own opinions about it but LeoFinance has drawn the line as our guide to be able to create what they consider a "curatable post." They are not asking for expert posts but teaching us how to be seen and noticed by their team of curators.

I hope this information can help you in your posting and sharing. I personally recommend having a good 500-word (above) article for a better chance.

Thanks for this informative post sis. So parang Twitter thread na rin sa Leo..reply sa post for additional info..
Btw, hndi ako makapost ng content sa new Leofi... putting tags on the tags field not working.. maybe I really need a desktop in able to post content there.
..but I'll try again later..

Thank you sis.

Yes, they are encouraging a better way of sharing our post links on Threads and on Twitter.

I am able to add tags on Leo post using mobile. But if you can't, you can just publish your post and edit it on peakd to add the tags (I did that before lol!). Publishing on Leo UI now is not yet possible. They are updating it I guess.

Yes, the publishing UI is down. The first photo you add on your post appears as the cover photo😉

A "good post" is subjective and we all have our own opinions about it but LeoFinance has drawn the line as our guide to be able to create what they consider as "curatable post.

For me your post always deserves the curation. Always nice to read and informative.

As someone who is still learning how all of this works your post was super helpful. Thank you for that! Glad to see LeoFinance is trying to be more transparent with their curating. As I understand it, they have one of the largest curation accounts on Hive.

Thank you @ifarmgirl The articles sound very hard and boring to write. No offense I understand that's what Leo Finance is all about. The subjects are not always boring. It's difficult. Have you written anything yet? Thanks. Barb 👍 😊 !BBH !CTP #ctp

You're welcome Barb. It can be challenging to write subjects for LeoFinance. I personally have to make research so I could get some ideas.😁

Thank you and have a wonderful new week.
