Friction Hurts

(Edited)

I was at the other house last weekend until Wednesday. The husband dropped me there and headed to his father's place. I was mostly busy tending to various things at my parent's house and also my online stuff.

Peruvian Lily in bloom taken just before 9 am of 3rd October.

The yard was a mess. Apart from the Peruvian Lilies which were blooming and thriving, most of the other plants have been overtaken by weeds and grass that they can't be seen any longer. I blame the plentiful rain for the overgrowth, lol!

Thankfully, there was a power outage on Monday which made me do something about it. I borrowed some gardening tools (a sickle, a trowel, and 5 sacks for the weeds) from Dad and started clearing out things while the carpenters attended to the maintenance stuff that had been entrusted to them by the husband.

I was already exhausted around lunch time so I called it a day. On taking my gloves off, I found out that I had blisters on my hands - two on the right and a really huge one on the left. I soaked up in the shower afterward and the skin in one of the blisters fell off leaving an open wound that felt like it was burning (thankfully it wasn't bleeding). I applied the magical ointment (petroleum jelly) to the wound then had a band-aid on it.

My niece, Ahjay said "eeeew!" on seeing them, lol! The good thing is that my wounds heal easily. It's always been like that for as long as I can remember, although they do leave some scars which I do not really mind.

Anyhow, a thought came to me today while looking at my already healing but scarred palms and fingers. Just as the friction between the garden tools and my hands caused me blisters and wounds, friction with another person also hurt (emotionally that is).

A friend of mine is currently having a hard time because of a misunderstanding with her sister. And while both of them are hurting, nobody is doing something about it.

When a wound isn't treated, it will take time to heal and it may even cause an infection. The same goes for emotional pain. We have to do something or it will continue to hurt. The irony is that no one will be able to cure it except us. So until we make the move, things won't change, or will they? My blisters are healing nicely just because I did something about them.

Well, that was what I shared with my friend anyway. I'm no good with words, but I sincerely hope she was able to grasp what I was trying to say.

Meanwhile, it's the weekend and I'm kind of enjoying a lovely time with the new baby in the house. Will be sharing about him soon.

Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope your wounds will heal soon and in the ending part you said that when wounds are not treated, it takes time to heal and cause infection. Besides you related it to human life is really impressive and I agree with it. I hope your friend will understand what you wanted to mean.

We get inspired by anything and see how beautifully you likened your wounds to an emotional wound, we must look for ways to heal but find a solution to what is hurting us.

I love this post so much.

I hope you heal faster.

Happy Weekend.

Sorry to hear about the wound on your hand and speed recovery. Hope it heals quickly. I believe you must also have been treating it because it is necessary before it grew to something big

I'm not surprised seeing those blisters on your hands. Light skinned people have their skin very soft, so any hard work like this easily tell on them.

I'm a Nigerian and I have a light skin(not your type though). Even as strong as I try to be, my palm still tell on me anytime I handle Cutlass for long. It's not laziness, it's just my body type 😂

I wish you the quickest fix back of your hands

Haha! I think it's not just because of the skin, lol!

Thank you anyway and happy Sunday

Hope it heals soon @ifarmgirl 🤗

Sometimes people don’t see the little things that can heal… hope they find a way to resolve it.
Happy weekend!

Well, that was what I shared with my friend anyway. I'm no good with words, but I sincerely hope she was able to grasp what I was trying to say.

My grandfather used to say ... stop beating round the bush and just say what you mean.

Sometimes CJ we have to bite the bullet and just tell them in plain language and be straight to the point.

Your fingers!!! I hope farmboy has kissed them better na💙

Aah, that's true Tito Ed. Sometimes, it feels challenging to tell the plain truth in the face, haha! As to the wounds, no worries about them, lol! They are healing fast. Thank you :)

Sometimes the best thing to do is to forgive in silence and move on without resentment, the wound heals and no marks remain, I checked it not long ago, a similar situation affected me a lot, so much that I thought of seeking psychological help; a friend advised me to put myself in the place of the other person who had no other way of doing things and forgive him from the heart and it worked! Now I feel fine.

That is good too. Sometimes we have to see from a different perspective to be able to understand another person. Thank you for sharing your personal experience and I'm glad you are feeling fine now :)

When this kind of injury occurs, there is a lot of pain and burning sensation.

New baby in the house, you must be psyched.

Blisters are no fun, but they sure do let you know that you got something done that day.

Friction between people is a lot more painful, especially when not resolved.
I had a boss back in the day that said something that I adhere to whenever a problem arises. He said. "if something is bothering you, do something about it and it will go away."
The longer a misunderstanding goes unresolved the bigger the issue becomes, as we all know.

Yes, we are. The house is now a lot more fun. The pup is teaching us a lot of things hehe.

100% true about blisters as well as misunderstandings. The earlier they are treated and resolved, the better. It keeps us away from further stress or troubles.

and hopefully, you're doing a lot of teaching as well, like, don't eat my slippers.

So, so true, head it off at the pass.

Not yet for the slippers. A lot of no-no when he pulls things from their places haha.
