Show a little kindness

Hello everyone, it's kindness month on Dreemport. @dreemsteem chose the right community to collaborate with. Kindness is just the right topic we need to talk about right now. People need to understand how important it is to be kind to other people.

The world is full of so many selfish people, people who can do any and everything to get to the top at the detriment of others. A world where people move around with a dead conscience, a world where a lot of people have no empathy for others. It is a crazy world indeed but guess what? we all are surviving regardless.

I don't know how many people remember Glen Campbell's Try a Little Kindness song from the 1970s. My dad didn't fail to play this song over and again while we were younger and he would always emphasize on the kindness part. It's safe to say that I am touring that path to date.

You've got to try a little kindness
Yes, show a little kindness

Just like the song says, we all have to show a little kindness as the world can only get better if we are kind to one another. There will be less chaos, violence, or pain as kindness will be the catalyst that would prevent most of these evil things.

I can't say I am a perfect human being but I do my best to contribute my quota of kindness to the human race. The world is so tough as it is, people are struggling daily to survive so a little act of kindness can go a long way in making the next person happy.

For starters showing someone kindness does not cost a thing, you don't get to break the bank or kill yourself. it costs absolutely nothing and kindness can be shown by anyone.

Something happened recently and ever since then, I have had to see a lot of things differently.

A few days ago a person who attends the same church as me had done something remarkable that made me conclude that age, sex, or financial status is not an excuse for not showing kindness to the next person.

Normally after church, my church members and I stay back and chat for a while before going home and whenever we do this my pastor always gives us some refreshments while we stay back. My pastor traveled a week ago and it was just the maintenance officer/ security man who has been tending to the compound so he was the only one around on Thursday after service. Just like our usual chitchatting in the compound after service, this security man came to tell me and my friend that we should sit down and that he had something for us. He immediately went inside and brought out a plate of food for us. I and my friend were surprised. He apologized for the absence of meat in the food but we were more than happy to eat the food and yes the food was delicious.

Now this is a man who is struggling financially, he has a large family, and feeding them in this economy in my country is hard but he went out of his way to show a little kindness and this was admirable. He shared his little meal with us regardless of the condition of the food and in all honesty, I was humbled.

This goes a long way to say that you don't need all the millions in this world to show someone a little kindness neither do you need things to be convenient before you show a little kindness to the next person. Kindness can be shown by any and everyone.

I hear people over here joke around with the slang that they “are wicked”, you can hear someone boast about how wicked they are and can go as far as preaching against being good. I really don't care what your experience was but such ideology or philosophy is wrong!

We've all had our fair share of the wickedness in this world, some people's stories are more painful than others but that doesn't stop us from being good. To me, good deeds are seeds that you sow that will someday bear fruit and come back to you. and when it does you will be amazed.

It pays to be kind, you might not know what your act of kindness has been doing behind the scenes but it's working and someday you'll get to see the end product.

I don’t know about a lot of people but I want to be remembered as someone who lived a good life and was kind to everyone that crossed her path
