IAAC Day 61 | Chooseday Thoughts: Be the Ant

Wow! It's another Chooseday, and I can't believe that I'm starting the journey towards my third month of the #iamalivechallenge videos. It's no longer about just being around anymore. Somehow there's a greater goal of seeking to inspire others as well as inspire myself to keep going despite the odds. We simply need to face the fact that the world is changing, and it's no longer like the one we used to know. We're all changing. I hope it's for the better.

So what has my title got to do with today's video? Well, I talked about the classic children's story of "The Ant and the Grasshopper." I learned it when I was young. I taught it even to preschoolers. It's a classic, but if you're not familiar with it, I'm sure you could find materials of it anywhere on the Internet nowadays. "Be the Ant" simply refers to saving up for rainy days. I think it made the whole world of difference, esp. when the pandemic hit everywhere. Locally, we've seen how this pandemic became the great amplifier of one's social status. Those who are already well off were perhaps unaffected at all; while those who relied on their day to day earnings were grossly marginalized. Such is life.

It may be true that the future is uncertain. We definitely cannot control everything, but there are things we could plan for and we should. Somehow that lessens some of life's uncertainties. I hope my video for today inspires others out there to plan for a better future. We could only do our best. I will let the universe do the rest.

Thanks for a great video @iamraincrystal, and that is a very beautiful garden, and thanks for the advice, be the ant, save for a rainy day, with how things are going right now it looks to be a very hard upcoming food shortage globally, and that is on top of all the melting ice and permafrost in the arctics, so doing what we can to save up for the future is quite nessecary, stay awesome.

That's a very important story for kids to learn. Sometimes I feel like most of my friends were sleeping during that class. Now they're constantly in trouble and they still keep spending more than they should. 🙄

Alas, I'm glad the lesson somehow stuck with me, but there were moments in the past too that I learned the lesson the hard way, esp when it came to finances. So, it's a constant push to do better each day. :) happy midweek!
