Wednesday walk : Visit the Asia-Africa Conference Museum

How are you friends, good luck and success. Share the experience of visiting one of the Museum in the City of Bandung, the location is on the Asia-Africa road. The building is quite old it was found around 1895. This building used to be a gathering place for Europeans, sosietieit concordila.

With the course of time development around 1895 until 1940, there were several changes in architectural form, until now the form with the Art deco style and international style is still standing strong.

The name of this building is called Gedung Merdeka. On April 24,1955, this building become a historical witness for the Indonesian Nation where in at that time, Indonesia hosted the Asian-African Conference attended by the leaders of 29 Asian-African Nation states.

At the Asian-African conference it was a greed the 10 declaration of agreement or what are called Dasa Sila Bandung, one of which is respecting Human Rights with the charter of the United Nation, a political statement that promotes World peace and World cooperation.

Gedung Merdeka every 10 years a high- level Asian-African Conference is held which is attended by many state leaders. On April 1980 the Asian- African Museum was inagurated.

I tried to enter the Asia-Africa Museum previously visitors had confirmed to visit, at the entrance to the museum there was a guard then in the room the museum staff asked for confirmation again. In the Asia Africa museum many photos of travel time at the Asian leaders conference were exhibited Asia Africa at that time.

Journalistic tools used at that time were also displaye such as cameras, old typewriter as well as statues of figures in volved in the Asia-Africa Conference sessions at that time, as well as written explanations.

Inside the museum can see there are table chairs made of rattan which were used to sit and rest for delegation in 1955 and are still well maintaned.

Main room, the main room in the museum of Asian-african conference is a large enough room that was used as a meeting of all the leaders of the delegation of the Asian-African Nation in 1955, in the there is a podium where each delegation speakes.

There are also flags from Adian-African Countries, chairs used by the Asian-African Conference is still original with around 350 wooden chairs. The balcony floor at the back was used journalists in 1955.

Coincidentally that day there were visitor from out of town and the museum management gave an explanation about the history of the Asia-Africa Conference. Visitors who enter the museum do not pay.

If you visit the Asian-African Museum its from Bandung Kebun Kawung station, take City transportation to St.Hall-Gede Bage, get off at the Braga Naripan inter section, walk south for about 100 meters to wards the Asia-Africa road.
