SOME REASONS WHY PEOPLE GO BROKE

I was just wondering sometime ago why a person who earns good salary still end up being broke at the end of the day. Really it's just crazy for me, like how can you be earning so much but you can hardly turn back to something that actually belongs to you? Being broke is something that most of us detest a lot but then our daily lives seems to love it so much. It's hard to know you are broke until you are actually broke.

A lot of us are quick in making some excuses like, *'my monthly earnings is small and is not even enough for a month. Others can say they needed something real bad so they had to spend more to get it and many other valid excuses. But then, as a salary earner, you already know how much you get every month so what really make you go broke? Well, I'd be sharing a few reasons why we go broke even when we seem to be earning just enough.

  • ALWAYS IN DEBT

So many people are slaves to debt, they can't go a day without borrowing money from someone or getting something on credit. It has become the habit of so many and that alone is one easy way to become broke. I know of someone who now enjoys buying things on credit even on days when he has the money to pay for what he bought. In fact, it's so worst that whenever he wants to pay back what he owes he always pay a little left and promises to pay back next time.

The next time he goes to buy something, he still refuse to pay saying he already settled the bills behind remaining just a little to balance up. The person sees it as a strange thing to pay up his debt and also buying something almost immediately and paying for it. Now with such attitude, it's almost impossible not to go broke. As long as you are a debtor (big or small) you are bound to grow broke sooner than later.

  • IMPULSE BUYING

Being an impulse buyer simply means buying something you didn't plan for. I'm so guilty of this too and I do know how it affects my financial life. Sometimes I just buy things that I know I don't even need at the moment but I might have need of it in the future (that's what I always tell myself, lol). Buying things without planning for them is one easy way to go broke. So if you want to avoid being broke and you are an impulse buyer, then you have to avoid impulse buying and even selling.

  • CARELESSNESS

Just like the subtitle reads, being careless is one other way to be a broker. When you don't care about anything then you are most likely to go broke because you don't have anything pushing you to save. So many people are guilty of this particular one at some point in their lives. When life gets overwhelming for us, we just resign to being careless about so many things including our financial life.

  • GREED

The fact that we always want more and more is also one thing that can lead us to becoming broke. A lot of people are broke now because of their greed of wanting more. They don't ever seem to be satisfied with anything and that drags them down to the mud. God is wise and that's why he told us through Paul that we should be contented with what we have. But sadly so many people have refused to settle for what they have and they want what others have.

Being broke in general happens as a result of not being contented with what you have. So if there is any solution I could proffer, I'd say we all should learn how to be satisfied with what we have. We should always learn how to work with what we have and keep hoping for more.

Until next time, stay AWESOME and JIGGY!!!

I believe that I have none of the habits you mentioned in your post. Feeling fucky for it😅. I think Impulse buying and always being in debt is the most common reason for being broke if my guess is not wrong.

You should be proud of yourself then because even me I have one of these habits but I'm working on it, hehe.

Yeah, you can say that. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts partner ☺️

All these points are true; impulse buying is one thing for me as well, but I have drastically reduced it compared to before. Right now, I have a problem with debts, but not as much as the person you describe. But you know PalmPay, with their Flexi credit. I end up borrowing from them too often, mostly for data subcription or Airtel.

I just paid them $11, with about $9 to balance of my debt from them. I sha know say that money would come out from somewhere.

Like these things happen and sometimes we just wonder why we always seem to be broke. I'm happy yours is not up to the example I gave and it's a good thing you are working on clearing out your debt, that's very important if you want money to stay in your hands.

Thank you so much for your contribution Gifted ☺️

I always say this, no matter how little you earn, you can still plan on it and never go into debt.

Thanks for sharing this.

These reasons you have stated are the major reasons people get broke no matter the salary. How mighty or how little it is.
