Hello to all the Hivers in our community!

On June 22, as planned, we had a wonderful Hive Talk at the Universidad Centroccidental "Lisandro Alvarado", here in the city of Barquisimeto. The authorities of the dean's office are delighted and in addition to this event we will be holding, in a more modest and direct way, different meetings with interested professors and the student center. At the presentation, the dean could not be present due to her son's graduation, but she sent us a video that we showed at the beginning, and we were accompanied by Professor Noris Medina.
It should be noted that the director of events, Magly Escalona, was very helpful in getting this event executed, and opened the doors for us, as well as the dean, to work together with the university. Let's see how the event happened.

¡Hola a todos los Hivers de nuestra comunidad!

El 22 de junio, como fue previsto, tuvimos una maravillosa Hive Talk en la Universidad Centroccidental "Lisandro Alvarado", aquí en la ciudad de Barquisimeto. Las autoridades del decanato están encantadas y además de este evento estaremos realizando, ya de manera más modesta y directa, diferentes encuentros con profesores interesados y el centro de estudiantes. En la presentación, la decano no pudo estar presente por la graduación de su hijo, pero nos envió un video que mostramos al iniciar, y nos acompañó para presentarnos la profesora Noris Medina.
Cabe destacar que la directora de eventos, Magly Escalona, fue de mucha ayuda para conseguir ejecutar este evento, y nos abrió las puertas, al igual que la decano, para trabajar en conjunto con la universidad. Veamos como ocurrió el evento.

When organizing this event, we thought about our presence there since we were going to a not only important University but to a very visual one. And as always, we wanted to show we are a community, so a big part of the team and out big stand made the way to the Experimental School of Humanities and Arts.

People stared surprised when the stand went in, it captured the attention of teachers and the commission of the IT department that was there doing an audit (bad timing because it made impossible for a few teachers to come, but also good because they were intrigued).

A la hora de organizar este evento, pensamos en nuestra presencia allí, ya que íbamos a una Universidad no sólo importante, sino muy visual. Y como siempre, queríamos demostrar que somos una comunidad, así que gran parte del equipo y nuestro gran stand se dirigieron a la Facultad Experimental de Humanidades y Artes.

La gente se quedó sorprendida cuando entró el stand, captó la atención de los profesores y de la comisión del departamento de informática que estaba allí haciendo una auditoría (mal momento porque hizo imposible que vinieran unos cuantos profesores, pero también bueno porque estaban intrigados).

We set up the space, and received all the students at the door with the big smile of @jessiencasa, @zullyscott, and @anjiart. The roll-ups were inside the classroom, with the video-beam and screen, while the stand was outside so people could take photos, and was also the background to our music and art event. On the Tv we had the videos explaining Hive and messages from @bertrayo and @guitarmcy to the music students that are looking for opportunities to develop their career.

Montamos el espacio, y recibimos a todos los alumnos en la puerta con la gran sonrisa de @jessiencasa, @zullyscott, y @anjiart. Los roll-ups estaban dentro del aula, con el video-beam y la pantalla, mientras que el stand estaba fuera para que la gente pudiera hacerse fotos, y era también el fondo de nuestro evento de música y arte. En la Tv teníamos los vídeos explicativos de Hive y mensajes de @bertrayo y @guitarmcy a los estudiantes de música que buscan oportunidades para desarrollar su carrera.

Explaining Hive, it's Dapps, Communities, and more

Explicación de Hive, sus Dapps, Comunidades y más

As always, we start by explaining what is Hive, from it being a Blockchain to it's economy and the Dapps that are build on top. Being an event catered to Humanities and Arts, we made sure to mention Dapps and communities that will fit their interest.

It takes a minute to make them realize that Web2, besides having it's own benefits, doesn't actually serves them to build a career. The success on Web2 depends on variables that have nothing to do with the content creation, like geographic location and amount of money paid on Ads, and it doesn't lead to a direct reward. Plus in Venezuela is too hard to monetize from Web2 since it has more limitations that on the US for example.

Como siempre, empezamos explicando qué es Hive, desde que es una Blockchain hasta su economía y las Dapps que se construyen encima. Siendo un evento dirigido a las Humanidades y las Artes, nos aseguramos de mencionar Dapps y comunidades que se ajusten a sus intereses.

Se necesita un minuto para que se den cuenta de que Web2, a pesar de tener sus propios beneficios, en realidad no les sirve para construir una carrera. El éxito en Web2 depende de variables que no tienen nada que ver con la creación de contenido, como la ubicación geográfica y la cantidad de dinero pagada en anuncios, y no conduce a una recompensa directa. Además en Venezuela es muy difícil monetizar desde Web2 ya que tiene más limitaciones que en EEUU por ejemplo.

We show them how on Web3 users can actually have access to their content from all around the world, they are not giving up rights to their content and they are the true owner of their account. And the main characteristic of Hive, that separates it from other Blockchains, well, two, the fee-less transactions, which is a big different from the more known blockchains, and the community. Hive is a highly social platform with more and more options to communicate between users.

Les mostramos cómo en Web3 los usuarios pueden realmente tener acceso a sus contenidos desde todo el mundo, no están renunciando a los derechos sobre sus contenidos y son los verdaderos propietarios de su cuenta. Y la principal característica de Hive, que la separa de otras Blockchains, bueno, dos, las transacciones sin comisiones, que es una gran diferencia con las blockchains más conocidas, y la comunidad. Hive es una plataforma altamente social con cada vez más opciones de comunicación entre los usuarios.

This part of the event was great. It served several purposes. First the engagement. One of the people that participated, our new user @aghataku (who we are guiding to her first post) said to us it was her dream to paint in a canvas, she´s a new student and because of the country economy it is not that easy to decide to buy a canvas for practice, even though they don't seem to expensive. So we could talk to her and people like her and show them what they can accomplish here. Of course they can use some rewards to fund their career, but they can also grow their account and be successful inside the platform in a more solid way they could on Web2.

Esta parte del acto fue estupenda. Sirvió para varias cosas. Primero, para interactuar. Una de las personas que participó, nuestra nueva usuaria @aghataku (a quien estamos guiando a su primer post) nos dijo que era su sueño pintar en un lienzo, ella es una nueva estudiante y por la economía del país no es tan fácil decidirse a comprar un lienzo para practicar, aunque no parezcan tan caros. Así que pudimos hablar con ella y con gente como ella y mostrarles lo que pueden conseguir aquí. Por supuesto que pueden utilizar algunas recompensas para financiar su carrera, pero también pueden hacer crecer su cuenta y tener éxito dentro de la plataforma de una forma más sólida que en Web2.

Other purpose was staying more time doing activities that just the Talk. It takes about and hour and a half to do the full Talk, and even when people understand (we make sure of that during the giveaways, by asking medium to hard questions about what we just presented to them) there are questions people don't say out loud, so we stayed longer with this activities and got to engage and clear the doubts they had.

And we got nice art for the Hive Barquisimeto community to use in some future projects we have in mind. The artist were @yetsimar from Hive, @aghataku who is just starting, and @segunramiro who had an account from the past but never used it and is going to actually activate it now. We also had @zullyscott doing a piece, and @irenenavarroart was supposed to paint, but she went outside for a moment to buy something and come back, but a sudden rain trapped her, so we had his son Rafael to do a painting alongside @tsunsica, and he loved it, we love the result too, and people loved to see him painting. We have to say, he was our cuteness weapon haha, and was really helpful on rearranging the classroom on out way out; a very sweet and well behaved kid.

Otro objetivo era dedicar más tiempo a las actividades que a la charla. Lleva alrededor de una hora y media hacer la charla completa, e incluso cuando la gente entiende (nos aseguramos de eso durante los sorteos, haciendo preguntas medianamente difíciles sobre lo que acabamos de presentarles) hay preguntas que la gente no dice en voz alta, así que nos quedamos más tiempo con estas actividades y logramos involucrarnos y aclarar las dudas que tenían.

Y obtuvimos un lindo arte para la comunidad Hive Barquisimeto para utilizar en algunos proyectos futuros que tenemos en mente. Los artistas fueron @yetsimar de Hive, @aghataku que está empezando y @segunramiro que tenía una cuenta del pasado pero nunca la usó y ahora la va a activar. También tuvimos a @zullyscott haciendo una pieza, y @irenenavarroart se suponía que iba a pintar, pero salió un momento a comprar algo y volver, pero una lluvia repentina la atrapó, así que tuvimos a su hijo Rafael para hacer una pintura junto a @tsunsica, y le encantó, nos encanta el resultado también, y a la gente le encantó verlo pintar. Tenemos que decir, que era nuestra arma de la ternura jaja, y fue muy útil en la reorganización de la clase a la salida; un niño muy dulce y bien educado.

The music was also awesome. We do have a new musican on Hive now! @gabi.flute (who we are also guiding on her first post) She was great on the flute, and was accompanied by a skilled cuatrista. Daniel Gimenez was with us on the guitar, and all of them made all the experience awesome. The painting, music, and conversation made the event so enjoyable, even with the sudden raining that came out of nowhere. We had a sunny day and by the time everyone was sitting having lunch, it rained cats and dogs. We didn't stop though, we hade the stand in a good location so it wasn't affected by the raining.

La música también estuvo genial. ¡Ahora tenemos un nuevo músico en Hive! @gabi.flute (a quien también estamos guiando en su primer post) Ella era genial en la flauta, y fue acompañada por un hábil cuatrista. Daniel Gimenez estaba con nosotros a la guitarra, y todos ellos hicieron que la experiencia fuera increíble. La pintura, la música y la conversación hicieron que el evento fuera muy agradable, incluso con la repentina lluvia que apareció de la nada. Teníamos un día soleado y para cuando todos estaban sentados almorzando, llovía a cántaros. Pero no nos detuvimos, teníamos el stand en una buena ubicación para que no se viera afectado por la lluvia.

On the event we had the organizer team of Hive Barquisimeto (Tsunsica, Zullyscott, Filoriologo, Joheredia, Yonnathang) which was joined by @omarqm for the outreach with the Student organization, and presentation of communities. @neruel helped with the initial contact but was unable to come to the event due to work and studies. @jessiencasa and @anjiart helped setting everything up and receiving the attendees. @kiutvariedades and @mandysmoon were great companions and took a lot of photos.

We also got testimonies this time. We had @yetsimar and @irenenavarroart to come in person, first time Irene join us on an event which was really exciting, she brought her son Rafael too. We also received video messages from @bertrayo and @guitarmcy.

En el evento contamos con el equipo organizador de Hive Barquisimeto (Tsunsica, Zullyscott, Filoriologo, Joheredia, Yonnathang) al que se unió @omarqm para el acercamiento con la organización Estudiantil, y presentación de comunidades. @neruel ayudó con el contacto inicial pero no pudo acudir al evento por motivos de trabajo y estudios. @jessiencasa y @anjiart ayudaron a montar todo y recibir a los asistentes. @kiutvariedades y @mandysmoon fueron grandes acompañantes e hicieron muchas fotos.

También tuvimos testimonios esta vez. Tuvimos @yetsimar y @irenenavarroart para venir en persona, primera vez Irene unirse a nosotros en un evento que fue muy emocionante, ella trajo a su hijo Rafael también. También recibimos mensajes de vídeo de @bertrayo y @guitarmcy.

This interventions were very heartfelt and convincing, Irene's experience in Hive is very long and wide, she's currently a Dolphin and is a community admin and moderator. Yetsimar also have a great experience on her field of illustration. Both are graduated from the DEHA-UCLA, the university we were in, so their testimony really woke up the audience to the reality of what we were saying.

Our musicians Bertrayo and Guitarmcy were a cherry on top, since they couldn't be here but talked to an audience that is quite difficult, see, musicians have a very particular character, anyone on the School can give testimony of that haha. But they are very dedicated and profesional, so it explains why they are more careful on where they have accounts.

Estas intervenciones fueron muy sentidas y convincentes, la experiencia de Irene en Hive es muy larga y amplia, actualmente es delfín y es administradora y moderadora de la comunidad. Yetsimar también tiene una gran experiencia en su campo de la ilustración. Ambos son licenciados por la DEHA-UCLA, la universidad en la que estuvimos, por lo que su testimonio realmente despertó al público a la realidad de lo que estábamos diciendo.

Nuestros músicos Bertrayo y Guitarmcy fueron una cereza en el pastel, ya que no pudieron estar aquí pero hablaron con un público que es bastante difícil, mira, los músicos tienen un carácter muy particular, cualquiera en el decanato puede dar testimonio de eso jaja. Pero son muy dedicados y profesionales, por eso se explica que sean más cuidadosos en donde tienen cuentas.

We are happy to announce our winner for the giveaway, @julirb20! Congratulations! She already set up her profile and we are helping on her start on Hive. The 10 HBD were already sent to her wallet.
