The Truth Behind Filters

In today's world, where social media is king, and appearances seem to matter more than ever, the use of photo filters has become almost second nature to many. However, it's worth considering the ethical implications of this common practice and reflecting on our personal experiences with it.

My Experience with Filters

Personally, I don't use filters when taking pictures. I don't have a strong reason to use them, and I prefer to present myself as I am in reality. However, I understand that many people do choose to use filters, and I think it's essential to consider the reasons behind this choice and its potential implications.

Ethical Considerations

I believe there is a problem with using filters to enhance one's appearance in photos if it covers the entire reality. Slight filters might be acceptable, but too much filter can hide the truth and create a deceptive image. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with images of 'perfection,' it's essential to remember the importance of authenticity and honesty.

Deceptive Experiences

Unfortunately, I have been deceived by someone's picture on social media, only to find out they looked different when meeting them physically. This experience made me feel disappointed as it did not represent the whole truth, and as a result, I no longer trust pictures as much as I used to. It's a reminder that what we see online is not always an accurate reflection of reality.

Sharing with the Hive Community

I decided to share my experiences and thoughts on this topic with the Hive community as part of my participation in the Hive learners topic. I am interested in hearing other people's opinions on this subject and seeing if anyone has had similar experiences.

In conclusion, while it might be tempting to use filters to enhance our appearance in photos, it's important to consider the ethical implications of this practice and to be mindful of the potential consequences. Authenticity and honesty are crucial in a world where deception is all too common.

For me, filters are not bad alternative in enhancing ones pictures. Photographers uses it in all their works. What they do is just modify it as photo editing. There is no photographer who has never used an editing software or app to enhance the appearance of clients photos. People prefer to pay higher amount of money to these editors to make them look much more beautiful or appealing to the eyes. What they usually say is, “you look great.”

Most phone cameras have embedded filters. It’s something we can not do without. What we have to put in mind is the fact that pictures are never the same as the real human being.

Always expect something different from the pictures you see and we will be okay.

I also think filters can never make a person beautiful of good looking. The amount of filter added to a picture does not increase a persons beauty but just changes the persons looks.

Anyone can make any form of changes to their pictures and I’m okay with it if it’s nice and appealing to the eyes.

I have seen people create the cartoon version of themselves and it’s nice, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Anyways, thanks for your thoughtful article on filters. I enjoyed reading it.
