Russian Police Seized Over 3200 Crypto Mining Rigs

Russian police has reportedly seized over 3,200 crypto mining rigs in raids in four "illegal" data centers in Siberia.

Reportedly, operators of the of the mining center were charged with criminal charges by the police officers according to the Novosibirsk branch of the Russian power provider Rosseti.

The centers were running as part of an interconnected network said Rosseti. According to the firm, miners ran the centers situated in different parts of the city of Novosibirsk.

Electricity worth a total of $2.1 million combined were stolen by miners from the grid of Novosibirsk said the power firm.

Searches were conducted by the police and confiscating nine power transformers and 3,225 cryptocurrency mining devices.”

Novosibirsk is the largest city in Siberia. Situated over 2,000 kilometers east of Irkutsk, it has emerged as a significant center for Russia's rapidly expanding cryptocurrency mining sector.

However, a rapid rise in the illegal crypto mining have been complained by the power providers. By this theu mean that miners are using illegal connections to the power network to steal electricity.

The police stated they had shut down completely the operations of all the four cryptocurrency farms at once in simultaneous raids.

Facilities close to a wastewater treatment plant were raided by police. Additionally, they pounced on a center located in a forest outside of the Leninsky District.

Near "a city landfill on the left bank" of the River Ob, another farm was in operation. Another was discovered in the Kalininsky District's "private sector" neighborhood.

According to energy company officials, all the four mining farms were equipped with modern power equipment.
