Family & Friends: The Pillar of Support and Love

Family is a word for someone, but for me, it's represents the whole world. After our birth, the family is where we learn all our basics from eating to sleeping, walking to running, and many more. Family comes first in our minds when we face any problem in our life. They are always by our side whenever we need them. They always come forward for any condition like moral support or financial support. Look at the face of a father when he teaches his kid walking by holding his hand. The kid has full faith in his father, and this is how both of them are connected to each other. The happiness on the face of a father cannot be expressed in words when he sees his kids walking for the first time.

In today's world, most of the people live in nuclear families. But in Indian culture, the families were mostly joint families. All the brothers and their families live together under one roof, and they all share the responsibility. The mother is not too worried about their kids as she knows there is someone always looking after them if they are busy with some work. The old-age members are the most respectful members of the family as they lead the way with their experience. But in today's hectic and busy life, most of the members are bound to live away from their native place and from family, this is not as per their wish but because of many reasons. First among them is work. After education, if any member wants to pursue some business or job other than their traditional work, most of the time he has to migrate to other locations because of the fewer job opportunities near them. This is also the case for me. After finishing technical study, I joined and from the day I joined, I am away from my native place as the suitable job opportunities are not available near to my native place. It's more than 12 years I am living away from my parents, and that is not because of my choices it's because I do not have many options. Fortunately, after struggling more than 5 years, I finally got transferred to a place near to my native place, and now I am able to visit my parents frequently.

Family is the booster dose for kids for their moral support and upbringing. Just notice their excitement when they come to know that the grandparents are visiting. Just look at the happiness they have when they see their parents in the crowd of the annual function of their school. Their tiny eyes always find their parents in the crowd. I still remember last year during the sports day in Gurseerat school, there was a huge crowd, and all the parents were sitting around the ground. I thought that Gurseerat would not be able to spot us in the crowd, but to my surprise, she was waving her hand after locating our seats. This all happened because we are all connected.

We are twin brothers. @harpreetsing is also on the blockchain, but nowadays, he is not much active after the birth of my niece Amreen. We all feel we are connected, maybe because we are twins. We always feel a bond between us and always discuss everything we have in our life even though we are long-distance apart. He has been living abroad for the past 10 years along with his family, but he is the first person to me if I need any advice or help.

We cannot ignore the importance of friends in our life. When I was away from my family, I made some very good friends from my office. We were colleagues initially, but as time passed, we all became close family friends. When you are away from family, friends are the ones who physically reach you if needed. I got transferred, but still, we are in touch with each other. Even this year, we celebrated the New Year eve together in a beautiful location near to a lake. And in the coming years also, we will make more plans of get-together.

I love to share an incident that happened when I had just passed out and had not started my professional journey. Actually, it was the year of 2007, and I was looking for a job after finishing the study. I contacted some of my friends for reference, and some were seniors to me from our college. One of my seniors called and suggested me to come to Delhi NCR area as there were more opportunities. I liked the idea, but the first challenge was to find an affordable place to stay. I shared the same with my friends; he immediately asked me to come to his place, and I did not have to worry about the stay and food. My friend was also unmarried, and he, along with two more people from our college itself, were living together in an apartment. When I reached their place, they all gave me a warm welcome and assured me if I need any help. Fortunately, after one month, I found a job and started my journey. For the monthly expenses, they maintained a diary and used to write all shared expenses in the same like rent bill, water bill, electricity bill, and food purchase, etc. And at the end of the month, they divided the total expenses among all equally. But for the first month when I was unemployed, they did not take anything from me, saying it was the rule of the apartment to share expenses only among the earning members. That was a big relief for me and truly showcased the meaning of friendship.
