Taller de Santa en las Calles (ESP-ENG)

¡Hola hivers!💜

Me alegra estar de nuevo por esta preciosa comunidad sucrense, y más porque vengo a contarles sobre el taller de Santa en las calles. Esta iniciativa que busca recolectar donativos para repartirlos a personas en situación de calle y comunidades vulnerables ya tiene 16 años juntando muchísimos duendes que apoyan a santa en esta ardua misión.

Llevo 4 años participando en esta hermosa actividad y se ha convertido en una actividad familiar. Primero porque iba con mi mamá y mi hermano y ahora porque seguimos yendo juntos, pero se sumaron amigos a los que puedo llamar familia.

Ahora, Santa en las calles trabaja de la siguiente manera: primero recolectan donativos en sus centros de acopio (muchos de ellos locales que prestan el espacio), luego nos reunimos el día del taller (que fue este sábado 16) a clasificar y envolver todos los donativos y por último, esa misma tarde-noche salimos en los trineos a repartirlos.

Me encanta el taller, este año fue en centro traki. La energía de todos los duendes que llegan súper emocionados y dispuestos a clasificar muchísimas bolsas de ropa en buen estado y juguetes es impresionante. Aquí se te olvida si estas cansado, sí comiste, tu única meta es clasificar, envolver y hasta decorar papel para que alguien más sea feliz al recibirlo.

Al llegar, me ubiqué en la estación de calzados para envolverlos. Lo importante es envolverlos y se debe colocar una nota afuera que diga la talla y si es para mujer, hombre o niños. Esta información ayudará a que otros duendes lo separen en bolsas para facilitar las entregas en el trineo.

Luego fui cambiada de estación, habían donado pan de sandwich, jamón, mayonesa y salsa de tomate, así que necesitaban quien se encargará de hacer sandwiches. Mientras yo armaba sandwiches, otros dos chicos se encargaban de envolverlos y ponerlos en una bolsa. Estos serían repartidos en la caravana a las personas en situación de calle.

Ya a las 5:30pm estábamos casi listos para salir. Los donativos ya estaban siendo cargados en los trineos, recogimos el taller y se estaban dando las últimas instrucciones a los duendes que participarían en la caravana. Fue un momento muy emotivo, porque justo tomaron la foto final antes de salir.

I am glad to be back in this beautiful community of Sucre, and more because I come to tell you about the Santa in the streets workshop. This initiative that seeks to collect donations to distribute them to homeless people and vulnerable communities has already 16 years gathering lots of elves that support Santa in this arduous mission.

I have been participating in this beautiful activity for 4 years and it has become a family activity. First because I went with my mom and my brother and now because we still go together, but friends have joined us and I can call them family.

Now, Santa in the streets works as follows: first they collect donations in their collection centers (many of them locals who lend the space), then we meet the day of the workshop (which was this Saturday 16th) to classify and wrap all the donations and finally, that same afternoon-evening we go out in the sleds to distribute them.

I love the workshop, this year it was at the traki center. The energy of all the elves that arrive super excited and willing to sort lots of bags of clothes in good condition and toys is amazing. Here you forget if you are tired, if you have eaten, your only goal is to sort, wrap and even decorate paper so that someone else will be happy to receive it.

When I arrived, I went to the shoe station to wrap them. The important thing is to wrap them and place a note on the outside stating the size and whether it is for women, men or children. This information will help other elves to separate them in bags to facilitate the deliveries on the sled.

Then I was moved to another station, they had donated sandwich bread, ham, mayonnaise and ketchup, so they needed someone to make sandwiches. While I was making sandwiches, two other guys were in charge of wrapping them and putting them in a bag. These would be distributed in the caravan to the homeless.

By 5:30pm we were almost ready to leave. The donations were already being loaded on the sleds, we picked up the workshop and the last instructions were being given to the elves that would participate in the caravan. It was a very emotional moment, because they just took the final picture before leaving.
