Agradecer con lettering (ESP-ENG)

Tal vez llego un poco tarde para hablar del tema, pero quería contarles sobre mi taller de “Agradecer con lettering”. Siempre he sentido curiosidad con respecto al día de acción de gracias. No es una festividad que se realice en Venezuela, pero me gusta el hecho de reunirse todos en familia para agradecer.

Desde el año pasado inicié la tradición de hacer un taller con lettering para agradecer. Por si no lo conoces, el lettering es el arte de dibujar letras y te permite expresar tu creatividad, relajarte, concentrarte en el ahora. Es muy posible que hayas encontrado frases positivas y motivadoras dibujadas con técnicas de lettering.

Una de las principales razones por las que me gusta hacer lettering es porque es la forma más bonita que tengo de decirme las cosas. En los momentos donde siento que no puedo seguir, donde todo parece oscuro, el lettering me ha permitido darme fuerzas para creer y seguir. Así que es también mi forma agradecer y que mejor forma de hacerlo que enseñando a otros.

Tuve un grupo pequeño de niños de entre 10 a 14 años, que estaban emocionados por aprender lettering. Practicamos algunos estilos de letras como una cursiva groovy y un estilo serif, con distintas decoraciones como degradados y delineados con sombras. El proyecto final era completar la frase: “doy gracias por…” usando los estilos aprendidos.

Fue un taller divertido donde los niños expresaron su creatividad y agradecimiento, al punto de que no se querían ir sin terminar, a pesar de que sus papás los estuvieran esperando.

Maybe I'm a little late to talk about this topic, but I wanted to tell you about my "Giving Thanks with Lettering" workshop. I've always been curious about Thanksgiving. It is not a holiday that takes place in Venezuela, but I like the fact that we all get together as a family to give thanks.

Since last year I started the tradition of doing a workshop with lettering to give thanks. In case you don't know it, lettering is the art of drawing letters and allows you to express your creativity, relax and concentrate on the now. It is very possible that you have found positive and motivational phrases drawn with lettering techniques.

One of the main reasons why I like to do lettering is because it is the most beautiful way I have to tell myself things. In the moments where I feel I can't go on, where everything seems dark, lettering has allowed me to give me strength to believe and go on. So it is also my way to thank and what better way to do it than teaching others.

I had a small group of kids, ages 10-14, who were excited to learn lettering. We practiced some lettering styles such as a groovy cursive and a serif style, with different decorations such as gradients and shadow outlines. The final project was to complete the sentence: "I am thankful for..." using the styles learned.

It was a fun workshop where the children expressed their creativity and gratitude, to the point that they didn't want to leave without finishing, even though their parents were waiting for them.
