This is the #37 (uninterrupted) issue of "Week through Adrian's Lenses" weekly roundup.

Let's see what we have for this week.

Week on Hive

25 of 42 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

Hivefest After the First Day of Presentations

Well... it started. You can't miss it since most people on chain and off chain are talking about it. :)

It seems the distance, cost or visa issues were reasons for enough Hivers who would have loved to participate to not be able to. Plus, we come after a long bear market and tough economic conditions, let's not forget that...

But nonetheless, the presentations from the first day - those that we were able to see because there was a technical problem with the live feed for a while - compensated and were interesting to watch and... comment live on the threadcast, something we could do in premiere at this HiveFest. :)

So, let's see some links, right?

First of all, on the official Hivefest website, the first day live feed (now recording) halts at the moment when the technical issues begin, during the presentation of @vaultec, one of the most interesting ones (first time I see him "in the flesh" too via the live transmission, and he seems like a very cool guy, obviously very knowledgeable too).

The continuation of the live feed from the point when the problem was fixed forward can be found here (starting during the first round table). Any content in-between I haven't been able to find yet. Maybe some attendees recorded something...

The link for Day 1 Behind the Scenes on the official website isn't what you are looking for either. As @neopch briefly announced there, there was a new link, which I found posted this morning. Here it is! It's over 6 hours of content here too... Basically, all speakers were invited to speak in the back stage as well, with Crim and sometimes Neo being the interviewers and filling in the gaps. This is in premiere at Rosarito as well, as far as I can remember.

What else did I find shared from the first day of the conference?

If you prefer pictures instead of video, you have that too here and I'm sure many attendees will post their memories either during or after Hivefest is over.

Something different but interesting at the same time is the NFTShowroom's IRL and virtual presence at Hivefest 2023.

HiveBuzz team continue the tradition of the HiveFest Meetings Contest.

... and before the presentations started?

Here are a few short clips with some of the participants at Hivefest.

@eddiespino described his arrival and meeting up the first Hivers in a post from a few days back. He was an early arriver for sure.

RoelandP explans why he wasn't able to make it this year. As someone who will have my yard full of workers for the next couple of weeks and maybe more, I fully understand him.

Leo's Team Tour de Force

I haven't been able to follow everything the Leo team has been involved with lately.

We know Khal and Mitch were present at Breathe in Las Vegas last week and they covered the event from a live in-person AMA from there. Khal also posted about it.

Reaching Rosarito in time didn't seem a certainty, but Khal managed to find the connections to attend Hivefest, where Eric is as well. He posted about this too, together with some plans and teasers about what to expect. We could already enjoy two of these plans, i.e. the live feed directly embedded in the threadcast and the day 1 threadcast where over 1,000 comments were made during the presentations. Today is his presentation where we should expect "MASSIVE announcements" to quote Khal.

HiveBeeCon - Kraków

As Hivefest is in progress, so are preparations for HiveBeeCon in Kraków for October 7. Two new posts add additional details:

Keychain Swaps & Multisig

Important updates come from Hive Keychain this week. They added the swap functionality to Keychain, for now to the beta extension. The most significant part of the capabilities that the new feature introduce, is that it can do swaps between L1 and L2 choosing the cheapest service to do it, and also, when two HE tokens are involved it chooses the best option to use between the token market and the diesel pool.

Also, for those who need and use multisig to sign transactions on Hive, Keychain has developed a long awaited tool that helps make multisig more useful by automatically transmitting the transaction to all accounts that should/could sign it to go above the threshold. This is complex stuff not to be messed with by beginners.

First Draft of a DHF Proposal for VSC Network

This is an impressive draft! If I recall well-enough the initial stages of the project, I don't think they were nearly as ambitious then. This is going to be a smart contract layer with serious capabilities having Hive as an anchor chain!

Blocktrades Projects Status Report

In a post full of links for those interested to go deeper on each route, Dan described the status of some of the projects they work on as a team. He is hoping to have a new release of hived, HAF, and various HAF apps and tools in about two weeks.

Clive - alpha release

We have a new post describing extensively Clive, which is "an interactive and safe command line application for interacting with the Hive blockchain". For those familiar, "it is a new and easier to use cli_wallet". Maybe an interesting side remark is that the post was published by a new account @thebeedevs created by Gandalf.

Splinterlands Pre-proposals and Land

Land gameplay is really close to coming live on Splinterlands! Pretty much all talk is about land, including this one during this week's town square.

But that's not all that happened for Splinterlands this week. 3 pre-proposals were published. One proposes to burn cards + vouchers for Riftwatchers packs, the second one proposes to slowly use all DAO unused tokens to buy SPS below 0.02 and the last one is relatively similar to the second one, except it would use part of the stablecoins to buy DEC.

WOO Booker's License Available at Discount

WOO is going to sell Booker's licenses at $5 instead of the regular $10 price until the game is launched. Then the price will be $10. For anyone who intends to play WOO, this is a great opportunity to buy the license at half the price. I missed a lot of entry points for WOO, but if it's anything I learned about Hive games, joining early is important.

Life of Hive

Hive Rally Car at Acropolis - Day 2

Another monster post with the coverage of day 2 at the WRC in Acropolis, with special sections dedicated to our Hive team (including the mechanics!). We're getting better at this! The first two (?) rallies I think were under-covered.

Week in the Crypto World

Give Us Everything, And We'll Pick What We Need...

Here's one reason why (the right to) privacy should not be taken lightly.

The SEC was denied access to Binance US's systems and recommended by the judge to "formulate specific discovery requests". So, what did they want? Full access to the information on Binance US systems so they can link them to Binance International. Classic phishing expedition done at the governmental agency level. Trust the government, huh? This doesn't mean I think Binance is blameless. We know first hand they can do pretty shady things.

Largest Investment Bank in Japan Launched Bitcoin Adoption Fund

This is slated for institutional investors and will offer them direct exposure to Bitcoin (long-only). Not an ETF but seems quite bullish for the price of Bitcoin. Depends if this offering facilitates more institutional players to buy and hold.

That is a lot of news. I haven't watched the presentations from Hivefest. Are there any that seems really interesting?

Most of them had interesting parts..Too bad Vaultec's presentation was interrupted by the technical problem. But I liked Wavio's presentation too, quite surprising.

I genuinely enjoy these weekly summaries you create. @vsc.network is looking like one of the best new projects to launch on HIVE. I believe they could learn a great deal from Koinos and maybe even fork some parts of their code.

Thank you! I agree that VSC is a huge project already for our ecosystem. I don't know much about Koinos, other than the former S. team are building it.

@andrarchy wrote some content about Koinos and there is this article I wrote along with the Mainnet launch. It is the best designed blockchain I have seen. I have been a very big fan of the project ever since the Whitepaper.

Thanks. I'll take a look, maybe tomorrow. Too tired to understand much right now.

I've been looking at Koinos a little bit here and there where relevant.

That is amazing to know! Thank you for the response. I'm looking forward to see some smart contracts in action. We need to develop as much as possible before the bull market comes. When there is too much hype in the markets, good projects tend to get overlooked. This is the best time to build and get HIVE back in Top 100. Best of Luck!

Wow @gadrian. There is a long list of things that happened with Hive last week! I don't trust the US government. I believe they do a lot of shady things. Japan is doing exciting things with their Bitcoin Adoption Program! That is a cool idea! Hive Keychain Beta will help improve Hive Keychain making it easier I hope. Thank you for the updates this past week @gadrian! Have a great week ahead! Barb !BBH !CTP #ctp

Yes, I think Keychain swaps will have a pretty big impact on the Hive ecosystem. Thanks for going through the weekly roundup.
