Switching Interfaces with the New Leofinance UI

I've seen this point about the new Leofinance post URLs brought up a couple of times. Specifically, that it's not easy to switch between another interface and Leofinance (and vice versa) easily.

I don't know if the URL format will remain as is (there are reasons why the team would want that), but switching between the interfaces is still relatively easy if you understand the format of each URL.

I often switch between PeakD and Leofinance and vice versa (I prefer to listen to posts as they are narrated by a software, and so far only PeakD has this feature).

So, let's take my post from yesterday as an example.

Its URL in Leofinance is:

https://leofinance.io/posts/gadrian/7-feedback-points-for-leos-team-on-new-long-form-ui

and in PeakD is

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@gadrian/7-feedback-points-for-leos-team-on-new-long-form-ui

If we pay attention, we can see what is the format for each URL.

For Leofinance, we have:

https://leofinance.io/posts/[username-without-@]/[permlink]

For PeakD, the URL format is:

https://peakd.com/[primary-tag]/[@username]/[permlink]

To see a PeakD post on Leofinance, you need to:

  • change the domain name from "peakd.com" to "leofinance.io"
  • replace "/[primary-tag]/@" with "/posts/" (since Leofinance URLs don't have primary tags and usernames don't have @)

To see a Leofinance post on PeakD, you need to:

  • change the domain name from "leofinance.io" to "peakd.com"
  • replace "/posts/" with "/[primary-tag]/@"; if the post was posted in the Leofinance community, then the primary tag will always be "hive-167922" (even though the Leofinance interface shows it last, maybe rightly so because it looks awful for human readers).

The most complicated part of the whole transformation is finding the primary tag, especially since it seems the Leofinance interface has a visual bug that quickly replaces tags with older posts from the same author.

I hope this helps you for the time being.

Thank you for sharing. I did struggle a little at first when wanting to swap over between the interfaces.

Yep, usually it's as easy as changing the domain name. But since the link format differs between links, we need to adapt.

I don't understand their new link at all, I'll try again tomorrow to try to figure it out.

The main difference is leofinance's links don't have the first tag (the community tag, if it's posted in a community) in the link while others do. There are other differences I tried to explain in the post.

I noticed that early on when I saw that I couldn't comment on posts using the link at the bottom of a post. Removing the @ solved everything but it was a pain until I figured things out because you can still see the post but you can't interact with it.

That's what I thought. Not everyone knows to take the URLs apart and assemble them back together.
