I include a link to the initial goal-setting post for 2023, for reference, if needed.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas or a nice vacation so far!

A day later with this Hive goals update...

We just came back this morning from a short getaway from the action of a busy town during the holidays (and generally). We saw a piece of news specifically about our town and how busy it was. If she wasn't exaggerating, a woman said she had been in traffic for 6 hours on Christmas Eve in our town. "Not bad" for a 50-100k town, lol. Don't ask me why so many people are still in traffic on Christmas Eve!

Funny, this is one of the reasons why I chose to come back to this town from the city because life was less complicated and I needed the kind of life that didn't suck all my energy. But the town has changed to the point that sometimes traffic is indistinguishable from the biggest cities, for example.

I guess we can put this on the highly discussed topic of technological deflation. Many more people can afford cars than in the past, as well as fuel to use them and to pay growing taxes when they are out of trend.

But... I'm digressing. Seems like my blogging break made me quite verbose. :)

I completed the first main goal for this year, as I anticipated last week: comments made, now over 17k, or otherwise a little over 5k this year. Not a spectacular number, but not bad either. And with a relatively low usage of Threads, which I keep saying I'll use more. Most comments came through blogging.

Still two main goals to go. One only theoretical, the HP + HBD in savings main goal - I don't see HIVE's price pushing through 39 cents by the year-end -, the other one, LEO staked is almost a certainty. Whatever there's still missing from reaching the goal, I will buy and stake.

Let's see what has changed since last week regarding my Hive goals.

HIVE Power (HP) + HBD in Savings Main Goal

My staked HIVE reached 37,854 HP this week, 119 HP more than last week. I am on target with the PUM challenge for December. I remained at 150 HBD in savings.

Here's what the evolution of the HP+HBD goal looks like:

I consider this goal missed, but I'll wait until the end to call it.

LEO Staked Main Goal

I staked 200 LEO last week and reached 22,300 LP. My power-up from this week is exactly what is needed to achieve my year-end target.

I currently need to stake exactly 200 LEO to reach the target by the year-end.

Splinterlands Land Expansion Main Focus

Land expansion's main focus extends throughout 2023. Unless I change the strategy, it will be the only main focus / main goal for Splinterlands in 2023. But there will be several 1-3 months goals.

Land Plots Unlocked - Completed

Deadline: End of 2023

Target to consider the goal completed:

  • at least 30 land plots in production

Final situation - COMPLETED:

  • in production (including Keep): 28
  • under construction (to be completed by the end of the year): 2
  • under construction (to be completed in 2024): 1

First Land-Related Goal: DEC/DEC-B Saved - Completed

This goal is COMPLETED.

Deadline (passed): When DEC-B offer runs out, either because all were sold out or because the time limit was reached (April 9th).

Target to consider the goal completed: 1.5 mil. DEC-B saved. Done!

DEC Saved 2 Goal - Stage 1 Completed, Replaced

  • [COMPLETED] Deadline stage 1: June
  • replaced with the 'Land Plots Unlocked' Goal

Target to consider the goal completed:

  • stage 1: 1.2m DEC (COMPLETED)
  • replaced with the 'Land Plots Unlocked' Goal

New Land-Related Goal: Cards for Staking on Land Stage 2 Completed, Replaced

The purpose of this goal is to build the amount of high PP cards I need for staking on my tract.

We will need to fill 5 slots per plot with staked cards, without requiring summoners (that doesn't mean they can't be used as regular cards).

So, what are the details of this goal?

Deadline:

  • [COMPLETED] Stage 1: June 2023
  • [COMPLETED] Stage 1.5: August/whenever Land 1.5 is launched
  • replaced with the 'Land Plots Unlocked' Goal

The total number of maxed-level* cards needed for staking on land: 500 (5 x 100).

  • stage 1: need 120 cards for land by the deadline (decreased from 220) COMPLETED
  • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 24 plots COMPLETED
  • stage 1.5: need 220 cards for land by the deadline COMPLETED
  • replaced with the 'Land Plots Unlocked' Goal

Comments Made - Completed

Original goal: 18k, REDUCED to 17k, by the end of 2023.

I started this week with a total of 16963 comments made.

Ended the week with 17021 comments made, which completes my comments made main goal for 2023.

Weekly Buy - ON HOLD

Waiting to see if LEO needs another push on the last week of the year.

I don’t even think Hive will get to $0.39 before the end of the year
Anyway, let’s see how it will go!

I wish you a good holiday

Thanks. You too!

hopefully, HIve will stay where it is staying at the moment.

It's more likely than to push above the 39-40 cents resistance.

Merry Christmas, my friend!! I hope that you enjoy the holidays with your family and going out of the big city is always a relief... At least for me... I mean, I like the history, old houses, and churches, but only as a tourist destination... For living, I prefer no cars, no traffic, and nature... 😃

I suppose that your small town where you currently have more traffic, but it shouldn't be that hard to go outside of it and find peace for a walk... :)

And regarding goals, as I can see if we ignore HBD/HIVE goals, all the rest is complete, or very close to being achieved!

Good job!

Merry Christmas, Zoltan! Yep, there were a few peaceful days and we enjoyed them. Having workers in the house for over 3 months now and that will extend in the New Year with work in the yard (mostly), this getaway was really needed.

Absolutely! Same for me. Cities are great for... city breaks, but not to live in them.

Yes, that's one of the great things about it. You can walk from any corner to the opposite one without much difficulty if you don't have health issues that prevent you from walking longer distances. And you can always find back or smaller streets with practically zero traffic. But the main roads are generally packed with cars. That's why I avoid them when walking.

And regarding goals, as I can see if we ignore HBD/HIVE goals, all the rest is complete, or very close to being achieved!

I don't like to ignore the HP+HBD goal. I'll make sure not to be in the same position again when I set them in the future. Otherwise, yes, it wasn't a bad year. It looks like I'm doing pretty well on land so far, but maybe others preferred to get involved with Rebellion too, and depleted some of their DEC in the process.

Splinterlands was huge and complex, and now, it is even bigger... It's hard to "have it all", and if you want to do it, it will cost you a lot...
Good to hear that you are doing well with the land!

I have cooled down from Splinterlands... No FOMO in anything, just doing things at my pace... I was stressing too much about it and I had to take a break...

I understand. I am not as involved as I used to be either.

Traffic really gets bad especially during the holidays. I guess people spend more time outside buying gifts, spending time with friends, and attending different parties. As for the goals, it was close, but congrats on finishing the comments one.

I guess you are right. Although buying gifts on Christmas Eve - as was the case with the traffic jams in my town - seems kind of last minute.

As for the goals, it was close, but congrats on finishing the comments one.

Thanks. Yeah, it was a calculated one. I saw the number of comments per week needed was dropping so I didn't push it. I could have completed it a little earlier if I wanted to, but preferred focusing on other things instead.

You had a great year and it's kind of weird how bad traffic has gotten. I feel like more people have cars and they have moved out further from the city due to the prices.

Yep, prices are a factor too. But salaries and job opportunities are still more abundant around cities, at least around our parts. I believe the trend is reversing as more people are moving away from the cities. If they can work remotely, then location is not important.

You had a great year

Thanks. It was pretty good, yeah.

I love the goals you have set, I think they are pretty much impressive and achievable too, I'm positive you will achieve all, including the ones for the coming year. The way you keep track of the goals with recorded information it actually good and helps you stay in control. I wish you luck in seeing through all those great goals. Happy holidays and a prosperous new year to you in advance.
