Hive Power Up Day and Dollar Cost Averaging HIVE

avatar

Hey HPUDers!

Have a great December 1st!

To continue the tradition, I powered up 10 HIVE today, even though I won't be making 1k+ HIVE powerups until probably the next bear market.

That didn't stop me from accumulating HIVE! I believe it is still seriously underpriced for this bull market, so, besides what I earn through posting, I also buy it with other liquid assets.

I decided to calculate something for the first time for me as well, in a long time: to see how much HIVE I purchased on Hive throughout November. This is for the base layer because I made some smaller purchases on Hive-Engine as well, but I didn't add them up.

After summing them up, the total was a little higher than 350 HIVE (purchased, not earned as HP). That's in liquid form, and for future reference, I've noted it, but, even though it's not much higher than the amount mentioned above currently, I don't want to make a habit of broadcasting this kind of information on-chain.

My purchases were based on the DCA principle, even if not daily, and taking advantage of pullbacks, without trading, for the time being (so, not taking profit after the HIVE rally to HBD, to buy at a lower level). I could have sold part of the liquid HIVE when Koreans pumped it at the end and bought back at the support, but decided against it at the time. In hindsight, the move would have been profitable, but not without risks.

Oh, and before I forget, I've got another PUM badge... Cheers to all consistent Hivers!

Happy Power Up Day!

You can still hit the 1k goal before the year ends

Hive Power Up is a very important initiative. Moreover, Dollar Cost Averaging is very important in markets where buying rates go down and to avoid large losses. Good luck to you.

These are two important mentions regarding DCA. Thanks for dropping by!

We all are trying best to have opportunity to access advantage in next bull market.

Those super-easy trades with fast dumps and pumps are a pity to be wasted... I always have some buy (and some sell) orders ready in the market... You never know... :)

They can turn against you. If the market keeps pushing upward instead of pulling back, it's a loser, and it's much better to hodl. Early in the bull market, it's safer too. However, in this particular case, we kind of felt the pullback coming, so, as you said, it was a wasted opportunity.

I've always seen people attribute Hive increases to Koreans, and I am not sure if that is just a joke, or if there really is a big Hive community in Korea. I was tempted to convert my Hive to HBD when it was higher a few days/weeks back, but I think it should go higher.

I've always seen people attribute Hive increases to Koreans, and I am not sure if that is just a joke, or if there really is a big Hive community in Korea.

It used to be a big and influential community back on the other chain. Now I think only a small part made the transition because they sided with JS.

When I say "Koreans" did that, referring to the price, I know for a fact. I am not referring to Koreans on Hive, necessarily. Rather, Koreans on Upbit, which is a Korean-only exchange (has a branch in Indonesia, but you can see which one is making the moves). Thus, Koreans because you need KYC with Korean citizenship to be on Upbit.

For the recent rally on Hive, I only noticed their involvement at the end, haven't checked before, but it seemed rather organically before the last 24-48 hours or so.

I was tempted to convert my Hive to HBD when it was higher a few days/weeks back, but I think it should go higher.

That's the thing. Those swings can leave you at a loss if it goes higher instead of moving between resistance and support. But I agree, this time, the likelihood of a pullback was high. I should have swapped some HIVE to HBD.

Oh so that's the background for it. So even though only a small part made the transition they can still affect the price that much. It would have been great if they all transferred instead. Thanks for explaining things again.

So even though only a small part made the transition they can still affect the price that much.

Maybe they are not on Hive at all. Maybe they are on the other chain or not on either and just speculating via the exchange.

A powerup is a powerup. I forgot about HPUD so I ended up powering up after the fact and missing the badge. Congratulations on the PUM badge

It's usually one of the first things I do in the morning. A habit I got from PUM, to not miss it.

Thanks. There are always other times. It's important to at least take action on some of them, preferably with some consistency.

I've made a 1k power up probably for the last time for a moment as well. It's not easy to find enough funds every month to get there :-). The important thing is to continue to grow in the long run...

The important thing is to continue to grow in the long run...

Absolutely! That's the main goal! The rest represent personal strategies to achieve the final goals.

The DCA is the way I've been able to consistently buy my HIVE and other tokens. Congratulations on your PUM badge, @gadrian!

Thanks, Lisa! And yes, DCA can be a good strategy for both accumulation and taking profit.
