Greetings to all, fellow Hive members. This is my first post in the community so I introduce myself, my name is Gabriel but they call me Gabo. I'm a visual artist and I usually share in my blog this niche; however, I also like to take pictures, it's something I usually post as well, especially of the buildings that are in my city.

Recently @chacald.dcymt told me about the community and I found interesting the niche that you share here, something that I also like because, as I said, I usually take many photographs of the buildings in my city and I find it interesting and necessary to comment a little about it with people who can also appreciate the beauty of these buildings.

Precisely, I was recently taking a few pictures of a building that I see almost every day. You see, on my way to work there is a building called "La Casa del Maestro" (the teacher's house in english). I don't really know its history but I do know some things that I have been told about it.

Look at the pictures and you can see that it is an abandoned place, but not because of bad management by the local government, this building is very beautiful and clearly a very well done work, unfortunately it was built on a clay soil that has gradually caused the structure to sink.

I always pass by the front when I go to work, I recently took the photos that accompany the publication, and it is at least interesting to see the way the building is, deteriorated, with the paint falling off and looking very bad. But it is a cultural heritage so it cannot be demolished by human hands, so this building will remain like this until it collapses under its own weight.

The facade is imposing, the stairs, although damaged by the same weather, look great and even from a certain angle it allows you to take pretty good pictures. There is a lot of symmetry and well-defined shapes in the building, something I tried to capture in the photos.

As an anecdote about this building, the Governor's Office once made an effort to try to remodel it. It turns out that the Governor himself was standing in the central courtyard of the building. He only stood there for a few minutes and that was enough for his feet to start sinking into the clay soil of the building.

Imagine how much this building, which weighs much more than a man, must have sunk, just a few minutes on that ground and he had already sunk into the earth up to his ankles.

I am not an expert on the subject, in fact I am a computer scientist, not an architect by any means, but I imagine that this is a sample of the studies that must be made of the soil before choosing the site for a construction of such a size. It is not tall, but it is quite heavy, so I have to suppose that if it had a greater height, perhaps the building would have yielded much more or perhaps some parts would have already collapsed because it is so heavy.

As you can see, a work of construction and design of my city. Abandoned not because of carelessness, but for the safety of those who worked there, but imagine working in a place where you sink into the ground just for standing there for a few minutes.

Well friends, this has been all for now. For me a pleasure to be part of the community and to be able to share with you some constructions of my little city. I invite you to leave your opinions below in the comments, as always I will be happy to read them.

With nothing more to add, I say goodbye then...

See you next time!

Very beautiful and elegant piece of architecture...it is a pity that it is in danger of collapsing...as you say, the terrain should be well studied before building. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the community

Yes, it is quite a problem to re-inhabit that building, I guess it is a lost construction, maybe because of not doing the corresponding studies.

Yes, it has a symmetrical and eye-catching design, too bad it can't be used.

I like the look of it, especially the curved walls. It could be used in a post-apocalyptic film.

We have a mall here in Hoquiam that has much the same story: it was built in the '80s on marshy ground, and by 2020 the floor of the mall had actually developed hills. It recently was condemned (declared unusable) because the roof is cracked and threatening to fall.

It's just that these things happen and to avoid human losses it is better not to use these buildings like this.

Regarding what you mentioned before, yes, it could well be used for a short horror film in an enclosed space hehehe.

Buenas tomas, ¡saludos!

Hey, I hadn't seen such a case, it's a pity because the design of this building is very nice and it sure was a very useful institution, could it be that they moved it somewhere else or it just disappeared? Nice shots, greetings!

The administrative part and everything that worked in the building is still working in another place, but this building is no longer in use.

Greetings @gaboamc2393, welcome to the community, it is a pity that such a large and beautiful building is abandoned; the design is amazing and imposing.

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the community. These pictures are amazing, also this building is beautiful, what a pity that they chose the wrong site and you are right, there is a lack of previous studies, soil mechanics is very important for engineering and architecture, a clay soil is not the best to build. What a pity, it is a great structure. I wonder if there are nearby constructions and if the same thing happens.
