Binance statement for Belgian users
I already knew that the Belgian government doesn't like Binance. A few weeks ago, they announced that Binance will be forced to stop offering services to Belgian users. This because lot's of the servers where the funds of the Belgian users are stored are outside the European region. So far, Binance didn't inform their Belgian clients directly. But this morning there was an email from Binance.
I don't know what email the Dutch client did get. But the information within this isn't very helpful.
Are they still trying to reach an agreement? Will they stop offering staking/trading services to their Belgian clients?
And no information about a date. Not even an adjustments of their Terms of Use, which had the latest update on the 16th of June, which was adding the Netherlands as a restricted country. Also it looks that new account still can be created from Belgium.
So why send an email which doesn't have any information in it? The users just remain clueless about what plans do they have for the Belgian market. If we do look at it globally, Belgium doesn't mean anything. Only 11 million residents and crypto isn't as much adopted as in other countries.
And yes, I do love the statement that the users assets are safe!
Curious how this will evolve. It looks like they are trying to get compliant with the regulations. But that is just an impression I do get from the email.

Indeed it does say nothing.
I've been getting emails from Binance and Bittrex pretty regularly reminding me that US customers need to get their money off the exchanges. I did all of that long ago. It's sad that we have come to this.
Guess this is the first step of more or less regulating crypto. I do believe that in 2025 crypto laws will get into effect within the EU.
There is so much that can happen between now and then. It's going to be interesting to see where we are.

Same thing happened in Netherlands and it was expected to happen to you.
Luckily there are options for one to choose but shitty how oppressive the regulators have become against Binance.
I got the same thing in Canada.
Looks like there is a lot more information in that mail compared to the one I did get. Probably we both will have to move funds around.
