Three Tune Tuesday - Allie Sherlock

We're back with another Three Tune Tuesday.

The idea for this awesome recurring ... well not really a challenge but fun event comes from the user @ablaze, who posted regularly 3 songs on a Tuesday and asked his followers to comment on his music choices.
After realizing, that the engagement grew, he created the #threeetunetuesday and every week many music enthusiasts share their favourite songs.

It could be anything. From obscure indie bands to the biggest names in music history.

Today I wanted to introduce a young singer whom I discovered myself just a few months ago (Maybe a year and a half). She is a street musician from Ireland who has been traveling with her father from Cork to Dublin every weekend for years by now, singing on the famous shopping/busking street called "Grafton Street."

Ich wollte heute eine junge Sängerin vorstellen, die ich selbst erst vor ein paar Monaten entdeckt habe.
Sie ist eine Straßenmusikerin aus Irland, die seit Jahren jedes Wochenende gemeinsam mit ihrem Vater von Cork nach Dublin fährt und dort in der bekannten Einkaufsstraße "Grafton Street" singt.

When I write, my brain cells need to be stimulated, and for me, it works best with music, similar to Stephen King (yes, I just compared myself to the master of horror).
Depending on what I'm writing and what mood I'm in, I need a different musical background that tickles my grey matter. That's why I'm always looking for new singers and bands when I browse through the world's largest jukebox, YouTube.
I actually stumbled upon Allie Sherlock by chance while searching for another street performer I had heard of at the time.
It was an older Swedish busker whom I eventually found and listened to, enjoying a few of his songs. It wasn't what I had hoped for my writing session, so I wanted to continue searching, but my search recommended another "busker" to me.
A young girl, maybe 12 years old, with millions of views. The thumbnail exuded such joy for music, a sentiment that proved true within the video and the hundreds that followed. (the binge-watching model was probably invented for people like me).
The list of videos I now play in the background when I write and start the "Allie Sherlock Playlist" is almost endless and grows larger by the week because the now 18-year-old Irish singer (together with her manager-father Marc/k) is a workhorse and uploads a video almost every day. Nearly 6 million YouTube subscribers appreciate that work ethic.
Most of her songs are cover songs, but she has also produced two albums herself. If I remember correctly, she even worked with a quite well-known American producer who invited her to the States a few years ago when she was still 12 or 13.

Wenn ich schreibe, müssen meine Gehirnzellen angeregt werden und das funktioniert bei mir - ähnlich wie bei Stephen King (ja, ich habe mich jetzt mit dem Meister des Horrors verglichen) nur mit Musik.
Je nachdem, worüber ich schreibe und in welcher Stimmung ich bin, benötige ich einen anderen musikalischen Hintergrund, der meine Gedanken kitzelt, deswegen bin ich eigentlich immer auf der Suche nach neuen Sängern und Bands, wenn ich innerhalb der größten Jukebox der Welt YouTube stöbere.

Ich bin eigentlich nur durch Zufall auf Allie Sherlock gestoßen, weil ich nach einem anderen Straßenkünstler gesucht habe, von dem ich einmal gehört hatte. Ein älterer schwedischer "Busker", den ich letztendlich fand und mir ein paar Lieder von ihm anhörte.
Es war nicht das, was ich mir für meine Schreib-Session erhofft hatte, also wollte ich noch ein wenig weiter stöbern, doch wurde mir durch meine Suche eine andere "Buskerin" empfohlen.
Ein junges Mädchen, vielleicht 12 Jahre. Millionen Aufrufe, das Thumbnail-Bild strahlte eine Freude an Musik aus, die sich innerhalb des Videos und der hunderten, die folgen sollten (für Leute wie mich wurde das Binging-Modell wohl erfunden) bewahrheiten sollte.

Die Liste von Videos, die ich mittlerweile im Hintergrund abspiele, wenn ich schreibe und die "Allie Sherlock Playlist" anschmeiße ist fast endlos und wird wöchentlich länger, denn die jetzt 18-Jährige Irin (gemeinsam mit ihrem Manager-Vater Marc/k) ist ein Arbeitstier und uploaded täglich ein Video.
Fast 6 Millionen YouTube Abonnenten danken es ihr.

Die meisten ihrer Songs sind Cover-Lieder. Doch hat sie selbst auch schon zwei Alben produziert. Wenn ich es noch richtig in Erinnerung habe sogar mit einem ziemlich bekannten amerikanischen Produzenten, der sie vor einigen Jahren, als sie noch 12 oder 13 war, in die Staaten eingeladen hat.

The first video is also the first one I saw. The backstory that became apparent in the comments and through research of my own is quite sad but inspiring at the same time, and it emotionally connected me to the father-daughter duo very quickly. Allie's mother had left the family years earlier when the young singer was still a baby, started a new family, and died when Allie was ten or eleven. She tried to cope with this loss through music and eventually asked her father, Mark, after a visit to Dublin (they live in a small town called Cork) if she could join the buskers on Grafton Street someday and sing a particular song that reminded her of her mother. "Supermarket Flowers" by Ed Sheeran. Her father made a promise to let her sing it and accompany her on the condition that this excursion into music wouldn't be a passing fancy.
Six years later, it can be said that she has stuck with it and has made her father and hopefully her mother proud.

Das erste Video ist gleichzeitig das erste, was ich gesehen habe. Die Hintergrundgeschichte, die in den Kommentaren ersichtlich wurde, ist ziemlich traurig und band mich emotional sehr schnell an das Vater-Tochter-Duo.
Die Mutter von Allie hat die Familie Jahre zuvor verlassen, als die junge Sängerin noch ein Baby war, gründete eine neue Familie und starb, als Allie zehn oder elf war.
Sie hat versucht diesen Verlust mit Musik zu verarbeiten und fragte ihren Vater Mark irgendwann nach einem Besuch in Dublin (die beiden wohnen in einer kleinen Stadt namens Cork), ob sie sich irgendwann auch einmal zu den Buskern in die Grafton Street gesellen und ein bestimmtes Lied singen dürfe, dass sie an ihre Mutter erinnert.

Ihr Vater gab ihr das Versprechen, er würde sie singen lassen und sie begleiten unter der Voraussetzung, dass dieser Ausflug in die Musik keine Eintagsfliege bliebe.

Sechs Jahre später kann man durchaus sagen, dass sie am Ball geblieben ist und sowohl ihren Vater und hoffentlich auch ihre Mutter stolz gemacht hat.

Allie has now become a fixture on Grafton Street and has collaborated with almost every other artist, young and old.
However, one can tell in every duet that she is miles ahead of her duet partners, but she never lets them feel it. That is why I appreciate the solo songs a tad more, because I enjoy the range, Allie can bring, when she doesn't have to hold back.
"Fingers Crossed" beautifully showcases the emotional maturity she has developed over the years. You can see people stopping, pausing their conversations, and listening intently. Most of these videos have the effect on me that I want to shout at those who don't stop and are in a state of shock in the face of so much talent, telling them they are philistines when it comes to art.

Allie ist mittlerweile eine feste Größe in der Grafton Street und hat mit so ziemlich allen anderen Künstlern, jung und alt, zusammengearbeitet. Man merkt jedoch bei jedem Duett, dass sie ihren Duettpartnern meilenweit voraus ist, was sie diese aber nie spüren lässt.
Figners Crossed zeigt wunderbar die emotionale Reife, die sie sich in den Jahren erarbeitete hat. Man sieht, wie die Einkaufenden stehen bleiben, in ihren Gesprächen stocken und ergriffen zuhören.
Die meisten dieser Videos haben auf mich den Effekt, dass ich den Leuten, die nicht stehen bleiben und in Schockstarre vor so viel Talent verfallen, zurufen möchte, sie seien Kunstbanausen.
