LPUD 15/8 approaching - how to swap HBD to Hive to Leo!

We await the 15th of every month eagerly. I do. It is the Leo Power Up Day. The day that we stake some Leo in order to grow our Influence in the Leo ecosystem. For the interest of newbies, powering up means staking your Leo or converting your leo to Leo power. When you do that, your rank in the leo community grows, allowing you to have a chance of getting stake-based votes.

Powering up your Leo is also means you have more influence through the votes you make. In essence, you have increased your value or influence in the community. Finally, it is a form of investment. You earn more curation rewards now and in the future, you can still take back your stake.

Now, I have faced this question from some newbie friends concerning how to swap HBD for Hive and then to Leo. Since our earnings are mainly paid out in HBD, this question is very important. So lets address that in this post.

Swap HBD for Hive using the internal market

The HBD/HIVE internal market allows users to swap either of the two cryptos. You can use swap HBD for Hive and Hive for HBD. Its fast and most orders are filled instantly, although a few times you have to wait a bit to get it done. So let see how to swap HBD to Hive using the internal market.

Note: I will use the ecency web frontend to demonstrate this tutorial. Most in my target audience use mobile devices. So the screenshots in this guide are done from a mobile phone.

Step 1: Open any web browser and visit https://ecency.com/market

Step 2: Click on the menu icon at top right. When the options open, click on "Login". (Check image below)

Step 3: Enter your username and active key to login. Or if you have a HiveSigner account, click on the button labelled "Login with hivesigner" If you want to create a Hive signer account, check this article.

Step 4: Once the login process is complete, click the menu icon again and select "Wallet".(Check image below)

Step 5: Once inside your wallet, scroll down to your HIVE DOLLARS balance. Click the small arrow beside it and select the "trade token" option.

Step 6: You are swapping from HBD to Hive. By default Hive will be there. So click on that HIVE and select HBD from the options. (check image below)

Step 7: Now you can enter the amount of HBD to Swap. In this example, I entered 1. You can see that it will give 2.881 HIVE after the conversation. Click the Continue button to complete the transaction.

You can choose any method to confirm the transaction such as using your username and active key. For me, I choose the Hivesigner method. So I will click Approve and confirm from the Hivesigner window to complete the transaction.

Once you are done, you can check your wallet to see that the Hive equivalent of your HBD is now in there. If it is not there, it means the order did not fill automatically. Wait a little bit and check back. It will definitively be there.

This is an easy way to swap your HBD to Hive. Next is swapping the Hive to Leo. I will cover that in the next tutorial.
