Hello 3speak and CTPtalk, this is Erik Gustafsson, @flaxz on Steem, 3speak and CTPtalk, and in this video I talk about #Curation and posting habits.

Posting Habits And Curation

So there is a relation between how many posts you publish per day and how many upvotes and comments you get on those posts.

I do 2 posts per day, my Actifit report plus my main blog or vlog post of the day, like this 3speak video for example.

But I have seen examples of some people making 7 posts, and that does not necessarily transfer to more total upvotes and comments in a day compared to just making 1 or 2 posts, and there are 2 reasons for this that I want to talk about.

Less Quality With More Posts

So the first reason is that by making more posts in a day, each of those posts can't get that much attention and work as if you make a less amount of posts, and thereby they are smaller posts that might have less quality.

Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with a smaller post, you should have both stock and flow content, just as @jongolson is talking about in the training in ClickTrackProfit, but with that many posts your stock content just drowns in your flow content, or you don't even have time to do any stock content.

Less Upvotes And Comments On Your Posts

Now if someone is following you, they like your content and gives you upvotes and make comments, they have a limited amount of time and a limited amount of voting power to spend on your content, we all have just 10 upvotes at 100% each day.

So if you make a lot of posts they will either lower the upvotes on the posts that you make, which means each post will have a lower reward and that translates to less upvotes and comments overall.

They could also just ignore your posts because they don't know which to interact with, and that is not very desirable.

But there is also more to this because if you get less votes and comments on your posts other people on the blockchain will also find it much harder to find your posts in the first place.

Less Is More

If you instead focus your time and energy on making just 1 or 2 posts per day, then you can make it have higher quality, and it's easier for your followers to interact with.

That means they give you higher upvotes, more comments and engagement, and that in turn makes you more visible to other people on the blockchain, your posts and videos gets ranked higher, and that improves the chance that you get really high upvotes too.

So my personal advice is to focus on 1 or 2 posts per day, that way you will get more overall upvotes and comments from more people and accounts on the blockchain, and this is especially important in the long run.

This is my own personal opinion, do your own research before investing, and seek legal counsel if uncertain.

I will be honest.

No matter what I do, what I try, what I post, what I write about, almost no one cares about my Steem blockchain blog posts. I have tried for 2 and a half years on the Steem blockchain.

Nowadays sometimes I do not make a blog post for 7 (or even more) days.
I am tired. Tired of being ignored. Tired of the majority of the Steem users, who are selfish and greedy.

See this statistics posted by @penguinpablo. You can see that there are 59 675 posts in the first week of 2020, but the average number of comments is only 3.38.
The problem is the fact that many people are focusing on writing blog posts, but only a few people cares about other people's blog posts.

Mainly this is why the number of the daily active users on the Steem blockchain is decreasing (dropping/falling).

@xplosive, I do understand you. In my view it is not only your problem. The activity (and the engagement) on Steem Blockchain is very low. It is because the user base is very small. Probably one day the things will change and we all will start to receive more comments, etc.

So don't worry, just Steem on!

No, the user base is not very small. There are more than 1.3 million Steem accounts.
The number of the daily active users is small, and nowadays constantly decreasing (dropping/falling). The engagement is low, because the majority of the Steem blockchain users are selfish and greedy, which makes people disappointed in the platform, and therefore the existing users leave, and the potential new users just/only avoid the platform.

Nowadays there are about 25 000 daily active accounts. Most of them are focusing on their own blogs. People published 59 675 posts in the first week of 2020, but the average number of comments is only 3.38. This speaks for itself.

Things will not change themselves. People need to change (their behavior).
Otherwise the Steem blockchain will soon become a ghost town.

Thank you very much for your comment @xplosive, and both the decreasing active userbase and the less number of comments per post is a problem, in my opinion it's not really about greed, but about the lack of utility of Steem outside of the blockchain, when you can't easily pay for things with Steem from one member to the next you take it out and pay for it and thereby you decrease it's value, and that is the main problem overall.

Then you also have the change with HF21/22 that also meant less rewards for comments, and that can of course be seen as greedy, but any system that does not force bad actors to work for the common good out of selfish reasons will have that problem, which is why I do like the discussion about removing Steem as a rewards token, and let the users be rewarded with Tribe tokens and SMT's instead, then just let Steem run the blockchain and be the main trading pair.

That way there is no central way but many smaller ways to reward creativity and engagement and the best ones will be the most successful.

As to increasing the utility for payments, the CTPtalk tribe just launched a complete payment solution that you can install on any website you want and accept payments directly to your Steem account without any middleman, it's up and running on more than half a dozen sites already and used for accepting payments, plus it can be used with any Steem-engine token, that way the tokens never leave circulation, you just use them to pay with and that retains value much more than selling them and then paying.

Then comes the question on how to create engagement, and if I take a look at your account you do have a lot of engagement, but not that high rewards, now I just took a quick glanse, but it seems to be a lot of polls through Dpoll, not sure why you focus on that, but if that is what you are passionate about then go for it.

What I would say though is that the questions is all over the place, no single subject and that is not good for consistency, if people come back to your profile they do so because they are interested in a certain subject, and if they can't find that then that means less engagement overall.

As to the rewards, I have no experience with polls, but my experience with making blog posts and with making videos is that there needs to be consistent quality and tied to a subject that you are passionate about, plus also consistent posting daily to get the results that you want when it comes to rewards and engagement.

You start with what you are passionate about and make posts about that, not the other way around of trying to figure out what people want then post about that, when you post about your passion and interests you will attract others that are interested in the same subject, and you should also reach out and find them, and thereby you have your engagement and the rewards will follow.

This is of course a lot easier if you are active in a certain tribe about that subject, which I am with CTPtalk, but the tribes are also the ones taking in the most new Steemians these days, and CTPtalk does also onboard quite a bit of new people from the outside, plus with this new payment system it's accelerating.
