Wondering About Crypto Credit Cards

avatar

I have not yet looked seriously into a crypto-card, although I keep seeing ads for them. Since I am mostly HODLing, I don't yet need one. I did start wondering about them, though. I have a few questions.

First, if the cards are issued by Visa or Mastercard, are we giving up some of the privacy advantages? I assume those companies would not have access to our keys, but could someone who stole a credit card drain a crypto account?

Second, does using Visa or Mastercard mean a company such as Uphold might be pressured to "cancel" people's accounts for "wrongthink"?

I don't want to give up freedom and privacy for convenience. I hate being mined for information by big companies that support centralized banking and support anti-freedom politicians.

Is anyone savvy about this? Thanks.

I am HODLing as well Kim but your concerns make sense. If it were not a credit card but a debit card that would be a more attractive option. That way you can put in there only as much as you want to use to make a purchase. But right now I am just investing and not spending so I wouldn't really need that.

I have received a card from uphold.

I decided to start 2021 spending bitcoin on an alcohol purchase on New Year's Day.

Great feeling and saved the receipt.
