What Does The Blockchain And Crypto Means To You?

When we talk about Blockchain and Crypto, we are not just talking about the technology and philosophy, or ideas in those white papers. It's much more than that, it touches all about our lives be it finance, mental, and even socially. In this post, I explain to you what the blockchain and Crypto means to me, being a person living in a third world country with an oppressive government structure.

Politically, living in a country as Nigeria is like living under the whip and chains of government control financially. People that work as government employees live like slaves to their masters without anything meaningful to show for their years of employment. The monthly wages are barely sufficient to feed the receiver for the month, and many are forced to put some of the money into a co-operative society, while they have to borrow from the same organization to meet essential needs. This is done for them so that their cooperative savings can be used to repay the loan. Thus, they will have to repay until the day of retirement.

Many of my friends who took government employment are in this category. While they continue to age in their employment, their salaries are never increased, instead, they have to take a haircut for salaries most times, while the government keeps owing them for many months.

Thankfully, for me, I chose the path of a freelancer on the blockchain, a life in the Crypto space after failing in several attempts to fit into the political system in the country. Blockchain and Crypto provide for me the freedom from the government and Institutional control from their prison like employment. Though taking this path involves risks, its benefits far outweigh those risks.

Financially, it was at the time of a major business collapse that I entered into the blockchain space and had my first experience with Crypto 4 years ago. Since then, I have lived on the proceeds from the Blockchain and accomplished so many variable things in the real world.

Today, My savings are all in crypto, apart from the funds I invested in a small scale business being managed by my wife; which I hope will live up to expectations in the coming years.

Crypto is everything I have, and it's my hope for a better future for my children. With it we are building a house of our own, have a car to drive around, and a table full of all necessary food to eat.

I have saved cryptos and digital assets like NFTs in the past four years. I can't even give an estimate of what my portfolio is worth presently, however, I would say, it's basically as much as I could have earned being a government worker in four years without spending a dime from the salaries. But, we know it's not possible to live without spending.

As a blockchain freelancer, I earn more than a middle class worker in my country. And Crypto is all I have to close the gap between being rich and being poor. The bull run will be here again, this will be another opportunity to gain and save another one to two years income if managed well. This is as much I can say, considering that I didn't come to the Blockchain with a dime.

This bull run will be another opportunity for me to add a block to my building or probably complete the project. Additionally, it will be another opportunity to invest in a more stable passive income stream for additional revenue.

Socially, the blockchain community has most of my greatest memories that makes me feel accomplished. I remember fondly before the last bull run when I created a group where we discussed Blockchains opportunities and Crypto. We shared our struggles, our dreams, goals and targets together. It was like a bridge that connects us together into a family. We talked about life, and aspirations of a better future.

The Blockchain became the bridge for us to connect, interact, and make friends, and socialize with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures across the world.

Blockchain and crypto have taken a deeper roots into my life, and the cement that held my family together. We talked about them all the time. My wife invests in BTC a little, since she doesn't have the time to do any of the things I am doing on the Blockchain. It was based on my recommendation that BTC is the driver of the crypto market that she has to do it. My eldest son who is now 12 years old has since taken interest in the Blockchain and Crypto, and has been grinding little by little as he can under my supervision.

Blockchain and Crypto in this case, became an example of how parental control and expectations can be cemented as everyone headed towards one direction. In everything, my wife is cheering me on even though she doesn't have the courage to dare touch any of the gigs I am involved in no matter how many times I try to teach and encourage her in that direction. She prefers to enjoy her night time and sleep after returning from business each day.

One thing that I regret, though not related to my family, is that one of my friends who I introduced to the Blockchain didn't do well and soon gave up because of a lack of determination and persistence. I do blame myself for it, because I didn't follow him up. But later on he made me know that it wasn't my fault and he just doesn't have the motivation to push through. He took up an average paying job and has been living paying different types of loans, including rent loan, car loan, and even attempted taking a loan to buy a plot of land. He has been having trouble repaying those loans year after year since he started working on the job four years ago.

I think I have said enough in this post about what the Blockchain and Crypto mean to me.

The bottom line is that cryptocurrency is my way of saying no to the oppressive and corrupt government and their banking system in my country. It makes me able to live a free life, and hopefully become financially stable and free. Moreover, blockchain and Crypto have become the cement that's firmly holding my family together. It served as a hope for a better future, and I happily shared these topics with friends, though some were skeptical about them while some believed and thrived.
