I hate short people - they're clearly inferior

Update:

Reading fireguardian's conversation with me is in your best interest. Get to it directly by clicking here.

I will make you understand

As a tall, bulky person, it always disgusts me when I'm walking around, relieving stress in a shopping spree, when a short person walks by me. I immediately take a step back. Look at them! They're like... Undeveloped. Overgrown infants. Clearly, something went wrong in their family's DNA. How could they be considered actually evolved human beings when they are as fragile as twigs? They're just like weasels.

Maybe you'd think I am a jackass for saying this. You're probably angry at me. But am I wrong? What do you think of me for defining short people as something beneath myself? Maybe you'd think I'm crazy. Or that I'm an asshole. My brain must be fucked up. Either way, you obviously think something is very wrong with me. But have you considered, for even one second, that I should be in jail for posting this opinion?

image.png

Because some people around me don't like how I express my disgust for short people. But it's probably in a different way than how you feel about me. They don't see me as mentally ill. They want to lock me up. Not in a mental institution, but in an actual jail. Yes, that's right. They want to push me behind prison bars for years to come. For trash talking short people! Do you think they're right?

Do you think people should be able to put me in prison just because I express how much I hate these damn weasels from the depths of my soul? You are feeling emotional right now. You want me to pay, but clearly, this is not something the law usually covers. Hate for short people. Haha! Lucky for you, there is already a law covering moral damages, so people in my society can, in fact, make me pay for saying these things. Jail is obviously going too far, but a humongous fee I have to pay? That's fair enough. That will shut me up unless I want to lose all of my assets.

Can you imagine if they actually passed a law protecting short people? You wake up in the morning, turn on the TV, the news anchor is talking about how a new law protecting short people from insults against their height has been passed. What would you think of it? Hysterical, huh! Weasels would actually get laws tailored just for them. They are not regular humans, so they get what they deserve. Fucking sub-humans.

I expect this will happen soon. No longer will me and them be under the same laws. Just put them on a god-damn leash or something to go along with it. Have them on a different neighborhood. You know the drill. Just do the same things people are doing against black people. Turn weasels into less-than-humans by applying different laws between us and them.

Everyone matters

Racism is a tale enforced by media to push the idea that black people are inferior to white people. Young humans are highly influenceable. If a white, privileged kid keeps hearing black people are treated differently as they grow up, they are more likely to give black people special treatment. Disliking somebody because of their skin color is as dumb as disliking somebody because of their height.

Insisting racism is a big deal pushes inequality in the future. People who insist in judging based on others' appearances are mentally ill or just plain dumb. Stop treating these intellectually challenged people as if they were intelligent. Avoid their awkward conversations and ideas. "Fighting racism" equals thinking there is a war between black and white people. A lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth until we break the chain of events.

People do not have to feel the need to be recognized as equals, no matter what they look like. We are all in the same species and that's all there is to it. Do not allow a black person to believe they should feel acknowledged as equal, because that means this person feels inferior to others, which they aren't, so they do not need to feel acknowledged as equal.

"The war against racism", as media perpetuates, only leads into black people feeling inferior. Stop taking "racism" ideology seriously. Start recognizing prejudice as stupid. Prejudice against one group of people (i.e. short people) is not worse or better than prejudice against any other group (immigrants, gingers, black, white). There is no black people, there is no white people.

We are all people. If you say "black people need to be recognized as equals", you are saying "black" and "white" are not in the same category. You are saying, "black is below white." So don't say it. Equality begins within you.

The idea of "black people" has worked in the past to kick-start fighting for equal rights when there were none, but this fight can't stop there. Specially now that the law does cover those rights, so adapt, because the problem is social now. Start saying "I can have this because we are equals" instead of "I want to be equal so I can have this."

I've decided I should spell it out just in case: if you got this far, yay! You haven't assumed I'd be an idiot. But do you understand the point of my post actually has absolutely nothing to do with height or hate? It elaborates how people put themselves on a lower level when they follow the racism narrative pushed by the media, it explains the psychology behind it and it also offers a way to break this chain.

I suppose biology wasn't your best subject in school.

I see a tall person, I just call them tall. Then I realized that appreciation of length is relative to wherever you live.

If you actually take the time to read the whole thing instead of assuming anything about me, you will feel embarrassed for telling me this.

Okay, so why do you think I'm not good at biology?

It's hard to have a conversation when I have to do the talking logic for you... But then if you don't want to have a conversation, why bother commenting at all? Weird. Maybe you're motivated by your will to disrespect me by saying I'm bad at something and then leaving. But then again, I'd be better off not talking to you if that really was the case, since I prefer having proper, two-way conversations anyway.

Short people have the advantage in heavy teamwork.
Being tall means you lift higher.
On a 4 man lift you carry more.
Put the little guys catty corner and the tall guys carry it all.
Sneaky little runts.

Anyway, thanks for exercising your right to speak.
Let's see what the crowd thinks, eh?

I don't hate short people, either.
We each have our place on the team.
In my example you put the tall people on the same end, or same side, and it pushes the weight off on the short people.
Just sayin'.

I'm making a point.

Subtly is lost on me.

Thank you reading to the end.

Oh, that explains it... Would you kindly give the second half a shot? Please. The first half is just satire in order to prepare the reader for the second half. But you still have to keep in mind the thought process presented in the satire, or the second half will be much harder to understand.

When it comes to the topic of racism there is not much i know given that i am a black man living in a black continent and i have never been racially profiled. however, when it comes to race I think the issue isn't as straightforward as we like to think. It is one thing to be disliked and a totally different thing when this dislike impacts people's life negatively.

Prejudice exists both in the white and black communities. It is something that needs to be addressed. Do i think people should go to jail or lose their jobs for not liking white/black people? certainly not but if that dislike translates into negative actions that impact the lives of others negatively then it should be looked into.

Racism is not exclusive to white people. This is a narrative i think needs to change. I have seen some racists narratives that are propagated within the black community as well.

We are different and this is not something we cannot ignore. as a species, we find ways to differentiate and classify ourselves to form our own identities. the problem is not in our diversity but our ability to coexist. This is not an easy feat. there will be people who exploit these differences

As you've pointed out, my post does come from a context where "racism ideology" is propagated, like the usa, europe, and of course, my own country, Brazil. Your input comes from a different context but you perfectly illustrate how illogical the "racism narrative" is. I agree with every single word you've said.

"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent" Eleanor Roosevelt (I think) :)
that's the takeaway for me in a quote not that a satirical thing about short people was used in a story.....

I found it really interesting that you made a point by being controversial and then tied up so well this post. Clearly if you read until the end it's not about short x tall, but about the way we create labels about other people and pass on ideias that are not true.

But at the same time, I think we should tread carefully when talking about this, since it's really easy to say "we are all equals" when people don't have a problem with the color of your skin or don't judge you by being different. I'm a white guy so I would never say this lightly, although I believe in it and I understood that so do you. But I don't think that racism is a media thing, it's historical, it's in the close past from us, and there is still a lot of that now a days.

To say "Racism doesn't exist" is to deny the thousands of deaths that happened in the past. To be against the fight because it supposedly makes people feel inferior is to turn all the meaning of it inside out. We just talk about this because in the past it was a real issue, like REAL, and it still is. You don't have to go far to see it, my family is from the south and I saw many situations of that.

But maybe I digress from the topic, since I feel that you wrote this to get the message of "Don't look down on anybody" and I totally agree with it. We are all the same and it is our actions not our wrapping that make who we are. At the same time, not talking about it won't make the historical debt go away.

Thanks for sharing this provocative post mate!

historical

If you're talking about slavery, that has always happened in the entire world, regardless of color. In Brazil, the first guys used as slaves were our natives, not black people. But you don't ever see anyone saying we have a historical debt to our natives. Because it's not propagated by the media.

To say "Racism doesn't exist" is to deny the thousands of deaths that happened in the past.

This has nothing to do with "racism". In ancient times, those who were conquered almost always served as slaves. Back when Europe was defeated by the Arabs, white guys were enslaved. But you don't see this "historical debt" crap in Europe. Even now, amidst an immigrant issue, it never comes up. It is not used against those very same Arabs who, once upon a time, enslaved Europeans. And I'm not talking about Portugal or Spain, either. No one over there incites a grudge over this.

To say "Racism doesn't exist" is to deny the thousands of deaths that happened in the past.

I repeat, this has nothing to do with "racism". It has to do with tyranny, slavery and political issues. Do you think Portugal and other countries would enslave citizens from their allies? They're neighbors? No, of course not. Do you think it would be smart of them if they attacked Italy and sent them as slaves to Brazil? From a political point of view, this would be completely retarded.

Well, I say it all the time. In fact I truly believe that we should give Brazil back to the natives and start learning from them.

In ancient times...

Well, maybe when I wrote "in the past" I didn't meant sooo far in the past. Just like in the last 50 years you can see that this is real.

But you don't see this "historical debt" crap in Europe

I also think that Europe has a big debt with us and with the whole Continent of Africa, with India and many others. Maybe you don't hear about that because they know that if they raise that flag the bill debt may be too high to pay.

This part got me confused a bit. What did you mean about their neighbors? Like because they are close they would not do slavery? And also, is racism always linked to slavery? Honest question, just had a moment here of reflection.

I'll not edit this comment because I want to write this to you, but maybe from this point on you can see a shift of mind. Really the ideia of race is weird because we are all humans, so just by defining that we are creating the division. And maybe that was your point in this. Another thing is that your topic was about the part that media does with it and I agree that many take advantage of this. We see that in the LGBTQ movement too. This is a really sensible topic for me because of thing in the past, but now I think I got your point. Need to reflect a little more before I can keep talking about this.

Thanks for bringing this out.

Well, I say it all the time. In fact I truly believe that we should give Brazil back to the natives and start learning from them.

But does other people say it too? Is there a movement around this? Most importantly, do you have to tread carefully when you talk about it?

historical crap

My point is history doesn't matter. If a person is not doing well, our government should help them. How they've ended up in poverty, their skin color and whatever else doesn't matter. We don't need "historical debts" to justify wanting the government to do something positive about it. It is completely irrelevant. People in horrible life conditions should get help either way.

Like because they are close they would not do slavery? And also, is racism always linked to slavery? Honest question, just had a moment here of reflection.

Slavery is linked to results of politics and war, and also deciding what to do with the country they've conquered. Look at the german nazis and german jews. Slaves for political reasons. Germany and Poland. Poland was enslaved because it lost the war. Slavery never, ever has anything to do with looks. It's always because of spoils of war and politics.

Also, on the topic of "threading carefully", you're absolutely right. Whites have to not talk about it or they will be attacked. But blacks also have to not talk about it, otherwise they will be seen as traitors. So no one can talk about it. Why? Because more powerful groups, including the media, don't want this resolved. But if no one talks about it, it is never going to be better.

historical debt

I also want to point out Hitler convinced everyone to persecute Jews by using the "historical debt" argument. Because Jews held the majority of the wealth back then, most of Germany were increasingly angry about it. The same thing is building up now.

Defense and attack. You picked an important yet touchy subject. You presented it well. It’s something we need to address moving forward. It’s a mindset people manly need to learn, but I don’t know if that time is now. You don’t know unless you try.
