What Other Love Can Be Greater

There is love you would feel towards another person, but you would be in denial that it isn’t love. Today you will read a love story that exists among some individuals, but they never realise it until they become older.

I’m not going to talk about relationships kinda love because most of it comes with pretence, but the love I experienced from my siblings was never fake. I grew up in a home where my parents show us so much love daily, sometimes there are arguments among my siblings and I, saying, “I’m the one Daddy and Mummy love the most,” and they would fight back with their words, saying it’s a lie. Sometimes our youngest brother would start crying, saying he was the one they loved the most, when trying to explain. Hmm weakling. (My thought at that time)

Anytime Daddy is home and we bring up the topic, "Daddy, who do you love the most?” He would say, “The one that follows my instructions,” and this made us follow all his rules and believe everything he told us. What a smart father!

There was this day I was causing trouble for my mother; she had warned me several times, but I refused to listen. She took up her cane and gave me a resetting brain-beating. I cried so much that it was hard for me to stop crying. As I was crying, my little sister started crying, and then our lastborn followed. My big sister was there looking at me with sorrow in her eyes. My mom had no choice but to pull us closer and pet us all. What did we do? Just some young boys and girls feeling sad because one of their own was crying.

We all grew up into teenagers, and those loving characteristics seem to have disappeared, but did they really disappear? My younger sister became so stubborn and disrespectful, always insulting me when I talked to her. I would beat the hell out of her, and one day she told me, “I wish you weren’t my brother.” It was painful, but I acted like I felt nothing, and I told her, “Your bad mouth will get you in trouble one day, and if they beat you outside the house and I’m passing by, I won’t even look at your side.”

After that statement was made, two days later I was home alone with my siblings, and then my junior brother ran into the sitting room panicking. “Brother brother, one boy is beating Ife (Ife is the name of my little sister).

What? Who dares lay a finger on my sister? I forgot all our fights and rushed outside while my brother led the way. We were running towards where she was. When I got there, I saw my beautiful sister on the floor crying, and all hell broke loose in me. I walked towards her with tears in my eyes and asked her who beat her. She pointed to a guy named Joseph. Without a second thought, I gave Joseph a punch on the face, and we started fighting.

No one dares lay a finger on my sister; expect me. If she offends you, come report it to me, and I will do the beating. Don’t beat my sister.

Was what I told him after we were done fighting? Well, it was an elderly man who separated us. The news got to my parents, but I wasn’t punished. Two weeks later, my sister insulted me again, anyways I love her still. The end.
