Only Unity Can Lead To Development

A community without leadership is bound to fail, and I am not talking about the local government, which has been delegated power by the state government to direct state resources into local constituencies for development.

I live in a community where the landlord and tenant who live in that community have taken up the responsibility of development in that community. We had a community chairman, but there had been no development going on in the community, which made me believe that "anyone who is given power will always mess up," but things changed after the community people made an appeal to impeach the current chairman.

He was impeached, and we had to prepare for a new election. The person who came out was a man who always came up with ideas to improve the well-being of the community. I was part of the advisory body for the election and how it should be conducted. The candidate started campaigning, and the day of the election came. I was so glad it was the man with the ideas who won, and he did win with very good numbers because people actually wanted him to win.

After he won the election, the first project he started in the community was the street light. Every house was taxed with a small developmental fee to be paid for, and people cooperated. After that, he made sure that everyone in the community started making drainage in front of their home that would lead to the main drainage due to erosion.

The amazing part was that he was one of the men who fought for the construction of the main road that leads through our community to the other community. The construction is still going on.

The construction is still on. I never wanted to participate in the development of the community at first, but after I joined hands with the community chairman and helped in any way I could, I came to realize something. The underdeveloped countries are suffering from underdevelopment because many of them are not ready to help each other. The grassroots need to join hands with the people in power to work things out, and the people in power shouldn't be greedy with the country's resources. That way, there will be unity, and then development will take place.
