I LIKE HAVING FRIENDS BUT FEW

Source
It's the beginning of a new week and I am happy to share on the first edition of week 101 engagement in this glorious and beautiful community. Last week was loaded with a milestone celebration of 100 ceaseless weeks of engagement. Today marks the first day of another journey to hit another target.

The subject for this edition focuses on the issue of making new friends. Before I proceed I would like to say that friendship is a relationship of affection that exist between two or more people. A good friendship can yield to lots of achievement in life. It's generally said that a good friend is a friend in need. My concepts on friendship might be different from other people's view. I think I should be entitled to my opinion because it's what works for me anyway. I don't consider a friend base on what I will get or benefit from such individual but I look out for a kind of symbiosis. What to give out and what to receive. It's a two ways traffic thing however there could be alterations along the way but the motive must be clearly defined.

The question is, do I make friends easily? Hmmm it can be yes and it be no. There are certain ingredients I consider vital in defining who a friend is hence I hardly call every human being I see as friend. As I stated before I can associate with people but not everyone I build up the relationship to a friendship level. My concept of a friend is someone who I know intently, and in turn has a good knowledge of who I am. There are certain things I share in common with my friends like believe, norms etc. I have a little grace in socialising with people easily but find it difficult to call all my associates as friends. My friends could easily attest about me at any point or situation in life.

I prefer having few friends than many. I can control many friends but the few I have , I can manage them easily. An incidence occurred within my locality that necessitated me redefining my yardstick for relationship. There was this man that makes tea and bread for sale. A new customer came around to take some chops and was well served that day. The next day same customer came around and bought noodles even for two or three persons around including a man that owns a barbing saloon close by. Once he was done eating, he walks straight to the salon to take rest. Another day this same customer came and the owner of the salon and the man making chops says his there friend.

Remember, both the salon and chop selling guys don't know the real name of this customer oooo. This customer saw a motorcycle and requested the bike owner to lend him so that he can go and get message just about 1kilometers. He said don't worry I won't waste time besides these two guys (salon owner and chops seller) knows me as their friend. They agreed and that's how he left with the motorcycle for more than 6 hours without return. After a while, the owner of the bike Brough security personnel to arrest the salon and the other guy because their so-called friend went out with bike and never returned. After thorough investigation, they don't know the official name of their friend and to cut the story short they had to pay for a new bike. Hmmm someone you don't know and suddenly you said he's your friend.

A true friend can vouch and stand for you in any condition. It's better to have few friends than many that I can't manage. Thanks for reading through and comments appreciated.

I think the bike owner was gullible to lend a total stranger to him his bike. Based on mere impressions recently. If I were the other two guys, I wouldn't pay a dime. Where is that done? Unless the two guys actually attested for the stranger themselves.

The two guys were the ones that attested before the bike was realised. They don't have sufficient information about this customer and perhaps they thought he will just go and come now now.

Some people's definition of friendship is based on their stomach infrastructure.

For me, before I can call someone my friend I should be able to pass him through the test of time, the saloon guy just learnt from his experience unfortunately

Thanks for sharing

Exactly boss, a few friends are enough than having lots of them thereby jeopardizing one's peace

Friends should be people we can confide in, people who understands us better than anyone else.
