Growing an Asset Garden

avatar
Seeing the recent increase in price of the HIVE and LEO tokens, reminded me of the importance in Growing an asset garden. What looks like an ATH at the moment, will one day be a fond memory when we shoot well past those numbers in the future.

When I was a boy, my grandfather told me "You have to spend money in order to make money." Or in this case, you have to invest funds like planting an asset seed into the ground and water it well. Over time, you get to watch it's development in fits and starts and if you planned well, see it grow into a mature tree while sending out seedlings of its own.

My grandparents grew farms in South Carolina and Florida, and she had a little garden in her backyard. Every year we tended to a variety of vegatables and I was able to see the care in which she nurtured the seedlings. All of this had a paralell in the world of finance and investment ande was a visual reminder of delayed gratification. Putting in the work now, could produce a bounty at the harvest.

I purchased my first shares of stock after six months of due diligence and chose a relatively safe utility stock. The plan was to play it conservative and invest not so much for growth, but for dividends. Watching those regular amounts come in each quarter and then reinvesting them into new fractional shares, was like watching a snowball slowly rolling downhill.

I really think that's the mindset we need to have in the world of crypto. Yes, you can setup your blog and grind away year after year without putting any funds in. But many see the utility in "priming the pump" by making an investment that allows them to support other content creators, while increasing their curation rewards.

So we look at Hive and those trusty souls that believed in the future of cryptocurrency. Back in 2016, they put skin in the game and used savings, sold assets and scraped together funds to build the platform that is now Hive. They are now reaping the rewards as sage whales after having learned and taught so much along the way. I was surprised when I learned how much many of them invested in the place at the time, but this was a strong vote in the future and it's gratifying to see it paying off.

Over the years, I've put some of my own funds into growing my stake on Hive and Leofinance. To me, it's not just a vote for the platform, but even more, a vote for the people that continue to make this "The place to be" on the blockchain. Whether you're engaged in DeFi, waiting on ProjectBlank or stacking your favorite token, what are you growing in your asset garden?

Thank You So Much!

Make sure to fill those bags. I like your view of investing and it is definitely the best thing to do. You have to sacrifice some things to make money and usually its money. But in HIVE, you can spend time to fill your bags.

Every successful person I've spoken to said the same thing. Delay gratification now, in order to thrive later. Mark Cuban ate ketchup and mustard sandwiches when he was putting together the funds to start his business. He and others like him, including the whales that built what became Hive, deserve all of the success they enjoy now.

I definitely wouldn't be where I am at now with my account if I had not put some of my own money into it a very long time ago. It gave me the boost I needed to start actually doing some real work on the blockchain.

And you know what? People like you were an inspiration to me when I joined and bought my first tokens to build my stake in the Fall of 2017. If you keep plugging away creating content, interacting and "priming the pump" you'll make it.

It's definitely the case that when you put some of your hard earned cash into investing in an asset then you treat it differently - you care a whole lot more!

One problem with this approach is that I completely understand the argument that you should stay unemotionally attached to your investments - but especially with assets like Hive, I find it hard. I soooo want it to do well!

lol! I hear you bro! Yes, Hive is a different beast altogether. I have the confidence that we will continue to do well far into the future based on the community we're building. After all... We're like busy little bees in a HIVE! :)

Yeah, agree - I just think we need to be careful what we wish for in looking to replace the likes of Twitter. Sure, it would be great to have a ton more people here but it would completely change the look and feel of it. Might be better to add more over time and stay as a 'niche' community "doing our own thing" (!) over here!
